I think it's a foregone conclusion Simon Pegg will get his friend J.J. to cast him in this. To me it just seems too obvious to not happen.

As he's a huge fan of the OT (although an outspoken critic of the Prequels), I was originally resigned to this possibility too.

I like Pegg, but unless he's just given say, an unrecognisable cameo as a background character under some heavy make-up...then he'll end up 'taking me out' of this next instalment quicker than TPM's opening scroll did!

So I'm personally hoping he means what he says here on the issue - http://www.express.co.uk/news/showbiz/419070/The-World-s-End-star-Simon-Pegg-not-keen-on-JJ-Abrams-reunion-for-Star-Wars-Episode-VII

Well, given that he gave nearly the exact reasoning JJ Abrams gave when denying his interest in Episode VII, we'll see how long this last.

You don't have to imagine it, this video is from a while back...

Benedict Cumberbatch is now heavily tipped to be included in J.J.'s episode VII it seems.  But would his role be as a good 'un or a bad 'un, I wonder?

Yes he is playing Lando.

oh he cant be lando not in this movie if he is in this movie he has to be either a sith lord or Boba Fetts son

Baby Bobba?! Ugh...

And am I alone in loathing the term "Sith Lord"? Maybe it's just that it's tied so tightly to the PT* (which I hate more than you do. Trust.). Anytime I hear or read that term, I hear Ewan McGreggor saying it in a very snotty tone. I think it's from ROTS, but I could have made it up on my own (Except for clips from the RLM reviews, I haven't seen ROTS since it's opening night).

*Yes, yes, I know the term "Sith" existed before the PT was made, but  it's never used in the OT.

Never uttered on screen, but Vader was called a "lord of the Sith" elsewhere back in the day. Every kid knew it, even if they couldn't remember where the heck they heard/read it from. ;)

That's why I put the asterisk up there. I had the trading card that labeled Vader as the Dark Lord of the Sith. But after the PT, I cringe a bit when I hear "Sith Lords".  Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I just don't like the word "lords"... lords.. the more I say it and look at it, the more I dislike it!

Would be funny if there was a repeat of the 'Batman Forever' fiasco. JJ casts Tommy Lee Jones as Lando and Billy Dee William's succesfully sues Lucasfilm ;-)

Was Billy Dee under contract to play Harvey Dent again? Kind of a shame he wasn't given the chance to portray Two Face.

He was, and got a nice severance package so Two-Face could go from black to purple/white, IIRC.

Nope, you're not alone - I've come to loathe the term myself, and for pretty much the same reasons as yours. I don't see any good reason why another Force sect/religion that follows the dark side can't be used.

Yeah, it was something about BDW taking the role for 89 specifically to eventually play Two-Face in a sequel. He had a "pay or play" written into his contract so that they would have to pay him even if he wasn't in the movie.

Yes, they paid for BDW to NOT be in Batman Forever while also paying TLJ to be in it.

honestly I think Billy Dee Williams would have been a much better Two-Face than Tommy Lee Jones

Ah, Hollywood ... unnecessarily wasting money since 19__.

Yeah it's one of those things that can bloat the budget, but if an actor is keeping his schedule open for a film they expect to be in, and they get replaced on a whim, they deserve some financial compensation.

Would be neat if BDW got to voice Two Face in a future DC animated film someday.

When the old gang signs the contracts for Episode VII, it's going to cover a couple more sequels at least. With the exception of Harrison, as he may only be lured back with the promise of dead Han. ;)

Considering what a pile of shit that film was, good thing for Williams he wasn't part of it.

well talk about George Lucas wasting money with the special editions of the original trilogy and I had a dream that I saw George at mos eisely cantina and I shot him with my laser pistol and I said "that's right George I shot first"

The whole production gang behind LOTR seem like a lovely bunch of people. But then there is the story of how Stuart Townshend spent two months of intense training to play Aragorn. Presumably turning down work to do that training and then turning down a sh*t-ton of work to free up the time for the year-long shoot ahead...

...Then they fired him the day before filming began and refused to pay him anything. Of course they replaced him with Viggo Mortensen, one of the best casting decisions of the last two decades but it's stilll a sh*ty way to treat somebody.

btw Viggo would be amazing in EpisodeVII! As a grizzled Republic General "IT'S A TRAP!"

I have a question what if in the future Vin Diesel was in a Star Wars film what do you think?
