Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released) — Page 40

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Every time I try to transfer the 7.88gb version of the harmy despecialized ed to my TB hdd, it says file too big. I've checked the fairly obvious answer and yes, I have plenty of space on the drive. It's a .iso file. I have watched the file on my netbook, it works. I just cant transfer it to another device. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Wouldn't it be formatted as FAT 32? If yes, it's a limitation of this file system that can't hold files bigger than 4GB.

That's exactly right. I feel stupid for missing that. I might as well ask a dumber question. How do I transfer this file? I have no problem buying a new flash or hard drive.

Well, drag & drop or copy/paste

...it denies me because the file is "too big". I thought we covered this already. Never mind. I'll figure it out. Thanks.

Well I assumed you'd do that on another drive. If you want to use that drive to hold bigger files, I'd format it (losing all your data in the process, of course). If you want to do that (BACKUP YOUR DATA FIRST!!!), I'd advise you to use either ExFAT or NTFS that are compatible with almost every OS, although ExFAT is just an enhanced FAT32, with almost the same limitations, except for file size. I know there is a DOS command to convert a FAT 32 drive to NTFS, but I don't remember it, and it's still a dangerous process for your data even if it worked fine for me in the past.

Hope it helps.

That does help. Thanks. I figured I'd ask around here because I was hoping someone else had this problem and would be able to tell me what they did to correct the issue. NTFS is my best bet. I'll just buy a new drive to keep it simple. Thanks again.

An easier way: first mount the ISO using Virtual CloneDrive, then use tsMuxeR to remux the m2ts stream from the virtual drive to an AVCHD folder on your FAT32 drive (in the Split/Cut tab, split the files every 4GB).

(BTW if you want to play on a PS3 you can use AVCHDMe to rename all the files inside the the BDMV folder to be 8.3 compliant.)

Thanks! And no need to apologize. I'm a full time teacher getting my master's on the side. I definitely understand busy.

So, last year I released SW v2.0 on my birthday. This year I wanted to release v2.5 on this day but it didn't work out, so I decided to do something else to celebrate my birthday and release a workprint of reel 1 of The Empire Strikes Back v2.0.

Because I had a pre-set release date, I couldn't quite polish it as much as I wanted, so it is very much a work in progress and I already spotted quite a few blunders (including quite a few rendering errors, which are already there in the lossless render from After Effects - if anyone knows what could be causing these kind of bugs and how to avoid them, please help!) - it should nevertheless give you a fair idea of what ESB v2.0 will be like.

I'd of course like you to report any problems you find (at this point, all is game, even color). Please use the time code from the WP when reporting problems :-)

Woot!

Wow - 12 hours to download this.  Is there a faster link?

Yeah, I'm getting the same 12 hours eta…I'm working on it, myself (and would be glad to mirror to another DL site or two), but perhaps someone somewhere (maybe in Europe?) is getting a significantly faster rate and could provide the mirror themselves?

p.s.  There are TONS of file hosts out there, but one that's particularly good for larger sized files and is pretty consistently solid for Europe and US folks (in my experience) is http://www.1fichier.com/en

Is there any downside for hosting on Mega? Download always seem to go full speed, as do uploads.

MEGA is another really good file host.  The one thing I have noticed for downside is backward compatibility (Safari and IE are NOT recommended due to their extensive use of advanced protocals)…also, I have read about SOME quality (file corruption) issues with completed DLs, but they are definitely an impressive looking file sharing option that is certainly worth a look due to their:

*generous FREE file UL/DL size limits

*solid FREE user UL and DL speeds

*impressive security features

OK, here's a mirror: http://79i9la.1fichier.com/en/

ETA < 1 hour…THANK YOU (again) Harmy!  Now go out and enjoy your birthday! ;)

p.s.  Just noticed the first one is .mkv format ("ESB-v2.0-WP1-R1.mkv") and the mirror is in a .m2ts container ("ESB WP1 reel1.m2ts")…just curious, are both the same video content?

Oh, crap. I uploaded the wrong file there. The m2ts doesn't have sound, so if you're downloading that, you'll need to download the audio separately from here and mux it in yourselves.
