Live and Let Die. Man, I'd forgotten how dumb this movie is. Maybe not quite on the level same level as Diamonds are Forever and Moonraker, but pretty darn close.

The Conjuring

Very well done horror film. Just the kind I like, using atmosphere and suspense really well. Overall a genuinely very good movie.

Well, there are more reasons to why I wish I could return to childhood beyond simple nostalgia; I miss having the ability to see things through the ends of a child.

Childhood is generally a very optimistic time in ones life. Even kids who experience pretty intense trauma tend to hold onto some optimistic hopeful view on life.

Maybe it is that optimism you're missing. You're currently probably the forums biggest pessimist, almost everything you post is a major downer.

Children have the right idea. As rough of a place as it can be, the world is still a pretty awesome place full of all sorts of fantastic things to look forward to. But you're bound to miss it when you spend all your free time watching 10 - 15 horror films a week.

Lawrence of Arabia. Beautiful film. A little disappointed at such blatant use of day for night though. Also a bit hard to follow the reason for an attack at each point, but I gathered that was unimportant to the story.

I imagine there were logistical reasons for not shooting in the desert at night. Creepy crawly bitey things running about. ;)

Its not a last movie seen, but im planning to see endure Hellraiser:Revelations (9) over the weekend. I know im in line for a fall, but somebody has to see them i suppose. My custom spanning spine covers have now gone to ship with that!

I may come back more messed up than i am already!

Last movie was Pacific Rim. It was good, worth the money but not something I would watch again. To predictable to me, doesn't help when my friend and I were guessing most of the stuff happening before it happened as well.

Actually, I haven't watched all that many movies in the last couple months due to all the Star Trek episodes I've been watching =P I don't even have the stamina/drive to watch 5-7 movies a day anymore.

...

The Bride (1985)

I expected this movie to be a more schwaltzy re-work of The Bride of Frankenstein with some bittersweet romance between Sting and Jennifer Beals, and I didn't expect it to be anything more than an average film at best. As it turns out, though, the plot was completely different from what I suspected, and it turned out to be a pretty good movie.

The parts with Clancy Brown and David Rappaport are definately stronger than the parts with Sting and Beals, though.

Hook (1991)

Even as a movie that I never watched all that much as a kid, it really forced me to remember my childhood and relive a lot of the emotions I experienced around that time. I'm certain that was the filmmakers' intention, though, and I give them kudos for that.

Oh, and Dustin Hoffman was awesome as the eponymous character - this is definately my favourite performance from him.

Men in Black (1997)

I've just got three observations I'd like to make in regard to this movie:

1. I found this movie very cool as a kid, but now its just so-so

2. Will Smith's performance is a lot less likeable and a lot more annoying to me now as an adult than when I was a kid

3. Too little time passes between J becoming an MIB agent and K retiring for me to believe they struck up a real rapport. The filmmakers definately should have implied that more time passed and filmed more scenes with them working together as a team before the big showdown with Edgar

LOL. That was actually kind of a smooth comeback, and made me chuckle.

I'd personally prefer to create and live in a box of my own creation, but my imagination isn't quite vivid enough for that *shrug*

I just watched the Master then Cloud Atlas and then Natural Born Killers...

I enjoyed all of them...

The Master is a brilliant film watch it! Best film I have seen this year

Cloud Atlas was long but enjoyable sunday romp.. I did not feel that it was that thought provoking though....

Natural Born killers was enjoyable but did not need to be so violent to get it's point over but I won't say that the film was bad and was some interesting stuff there although some of it don't work

"Star Wars"

An enjoyable little film.  Not much can be said about it other then good characters, well done special effects for the time it was original made, and a fine tribute to the action serials of the 1930's.

I think I've seen that. All I can remember is that I thought it could REALLY use an update on the special effects, really bring it into the 90's.

Dude, it came out in the 90's.

Yeah, it made heavy use of CG. I can't be bothered to look it up, but I am sure it came out mid to late nineties. I think I remember seeing posters for it in theaters around that time. Definitely wasn't an 80's film, they didn't have awesome CG special effects like that back then.

If they'd tried to make something like that in the 70's or 80's it would have looked like shite.

The Great Gatsby. Good flavour (sic) but felt a bit flat in the middle. I felt I enjoyed the story when it was following Nick but at times when he's on the sidelines I began to lose interest.

3 Balls.

GI Joe 2. What is up with the Rock? he is freaking huge. he is literally twice the man he used to be.

Joss Whedon should have put him in a Ruffalo wig and cast him as the Hulk. That said, I feel like his acting has improved a great deal over the years.

mindless fun. 2 balls.

The Host. Great style, very little story. I'm not surprised given the source (author of twilight) but it felt like it had real potential at the start. A bit of a shame. Waste of a great cast.

1 ball.

10 Years. It wasn't a bad movie but I was expecting something very different. The trailer paints it as a slapstick type comedy when really it is more of a romantic dramedy.

It's an ensemble film about a 10 year high school reunion. It's something that a lot of people can relate to, and there are characteristics we all probably recognize but I feel like it would have been better served if the focus was shifted more towards two characters who spend most of the film on the sidelines, only to take centre stage towards the end.

2 balls ( could have been better with different editing)

I WAS planning to go see The World's End but it would appear that it's finished it's run at my local (I hate Village / Roadshow). It may still be on at my nextmnearest cinema but that's a 45 minute drive away. Might have to get the boys together for a road trip..

"Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back"

A very exciting film, and a pretty good sequel. The mystic green puppet was a little hard to get into at first, but the dialog helped as the film went on. Nice character development, and what a bombshell of a revelation from the dude in the helmet.  The golden robot guy was a bit over the top in his flamboyant rantings.   I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

Elysium (2013)

Solid. Enjoyed it about as much as I did District 9.

2 Guns (2013)

Best buddy cop movie I've seen in years. Great chemistry between the two.
