Oops. That was just a misconception on my part.*

I used to not be able to understand the whole cave scene on Dagobah.

Yes, Arizona. Tucson, to be precise. Moving to Phoenix soon, though.

Interesting thread, hadn't spotted it before. One straight off the top of my head was Bigg's line...

"Cover me Porkins"

I've spent the first 30 or so years of my life thinking it was...

"Cover me Falcons"

... I thought "Falcon" was a slang term for ships in SW, like the MILLENIUM Falcon. I only realised that it was Porkins about a month ago.

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

You do realize this is a Star Wars thread, right?

You remember the space battle scene from "Moonraker"? That's what I thought Star Wars was like, before I've seen it.

In Jedi when C3P0 says "At last, Master Luke's come to rescue us" in Jabba's Palace, I always thought that because he was wearing a hooded cloak that Luke was supposed to be in disguise and C3P0 just blew his cover.

My kid's already got a Star Wars misconception.  He's only seen Star Wars so far (so far he's been able to wait for the Despecialized 2.x series), but I call this one the Darth Vader/Pootie Tang crossover misconception.

Basically Darth Vader is occasionally using big unfamiliar words for a kid (ambassador, etc), and he's wearing a mask which kinda muffles everything he says.  Then practically the first thing Leia says to him is that she has no idea what he's talking about.

...so, later, my kid just starts laughing in the middle of the Death Star conference scene, and says, "Ha! Nobody can even understand what [Vader's] saying!"

Which I think is great!  It points to a whole new source of motivation for Vader.  The sheer rage of being misunderstood wherever he goes.  Finally at the conference he just snaps and force-chokes a guy who misunderstood what he said.  I think it's great.  Also a fairly decent motivator for Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, now that I think of it.

EDIT: I should also add that my son is young enough that he's got at least three friends who are pretty hard to understand because they're still having trouble pronouncing certain sounds, so a guy just going through life not being understood by the people around him is actually not that out of the ordinary to him.

Trust me, I have a few.

I actually fell asleep during my first showing of ESB (take it easy, it was 9:00 and I was 4 years old), so I missed out on a lot of stuff. My dad was VERY interested in the '04 DVD set when it came out. So, I occasionally found him watching both the Bonus Disc and ESB, and I caught a few clips out of context. The main one was in EOD, and showed what I thought was Luke's death. It was just him screaming "No" after the big revelation, but my young mind took it differently.

TPM was one where I also fell asleep, but I did wake up, a couple times. One of the times, I was legitimately frightened by the terrifying Yoda puppet. The second time, I woke up to the lightsaber battle. I was still dazed, so the events of the final battle played differently in my head. I thought that Obi-Wan had used his own lightsaber to cut down Darth Maul, and my mind filled in the gaps by creating a few shots of his lightsaber falling, and then falling the opposite way. It was flawless, until I watched it again. Oops.

Oh, and you wouldn't believe what I thought Biggs and Luke said to each other at the end of the hanger scene.

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.
