How often do you actually watch an entire Star Wars movie?

Author
Time

Just curious - I get the feeling a lot of us talk about it more than we actually watch.

I watch a full Star Wars movie every month and a half or so... usually if I'm going to watch one, I watch a couple. I am a victim of the numbering system though... that slightly ocd desire to have a full marathon, starting with Episode 1. I rarely make it out of the PT :( I hate sand...

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

I watched ANH a few weeks ago with some friends.  But before that, it's probably been over a year.  I want to wait until ESB:R comes out ;)

If I'm gonna watch Star Wars its usually a lazy Sunday where I've nothin planned. And then the whole day is planned around them.

Late morning after breakfast and a shower,  Star Wars

Mid afternnoon after roast dinner and the beers are cracked open,  Empire

Early evening (7ish) ROTJ

Bliss. :)

Wow, I'm watching the "hexalogy" once each year and my friends claim I watch the movies too often :-)

Star Wars doesn't exist as a hexology to me. If the ST is good then it will. But until that time exists, it will remain a trilogy.

Working on plot ideas for prequels has me watching bits of the originals whenever I shift the point of view from which I understand the movies.

I don't really watch them all the way through anymore except perhaps once a year, and that's only the OT. I just watched parts of the PT recently, and it was so interesting because I haven't watched them in years, and I found that I don't really dislike them anymore. They're still bad, sure, but the feeling is one of morbid fascination now rather than dislike.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Now? Almost never.

TPM was screened on UK TV yesterday and I tried to watch it. Just basically because there was literally nothing else on. And still after all these years I can't do it. It's painful, and brings back so many bad memories. Akin to (unwittingly) bumping into an old girlfriend who was nothing but a pain in the arse and ultimately got on your nerves.

I watch OT once a year. Usually, ANH one night and ESB and ROTJ together the other night.

Original Trilogy at least once a month over three nights. But depends, sometimes I have watched just Star Wars over different nights.

Prequel Trilogy at least........Can't remember the last time I watched them but it must be a couple of years ago now !

Not frequently, but with the kids growing up to movie-watching-age I think that's likely to change...

Not often, to be honest - the last time I watched any of the movies was several months ago.

There are just too many other movies/TV shows that I have to watch/rewatch to bother watching something I've seen a nth amount of times.

Probs once a month, it goes through a cycle, I'll watch Star Wars one month then next I'll think to myself I havnt watched Jedi for a while and give it a whirl, then next month I'll go back to Star Wars again then I'll think I havnt watched Revis for a while, so I watch it, then next month I'll think I havnt watched Empire for a while and so on and so forth. It also takes on cycles of watching the various different edits and versions provided by the talented people of this very site and Fanedit.org.

I'll be honest its very rare I watch a prequel right through, still playing with editing them down to something better still so watching bits and bobs of them is enough.

Good question NSP

I probably watch 1 or 2 SW movies a month, usually on lazy days when I am not doing anything and just want to sit back and watch a movie.  My movie watching of SW movies may ramp up when the ST gets closer as the hype will get me in the mood to watch them more.

I try to watch at least ANH every year, but even that rarely happens. Most of my viewing is of as of yet unseen films/tv shows (mostly just movies).

However, whenever, and I mean whenever, a SW film is on TV, I'm watching it.

There should be a separate thread for those of us with kids, given that lazy days with nothing to do no longer exist.

Is Spike still running them into the ground? My cable company has been shuffling channels around, and it seems to have been dropped by them.

I've got a kid. A son to be more precise. But I see him every other weekend. And if on the weekend I'm not seeing him, if I've got no plans and I feel like watching Star Wars (which on average is maybe twice a year) then the whole day is planned around watching the OT in its entirety.

Get out of my theoretical thread.

Technically speaking is it even possible?

Is there a single Theatrical release version available to buy or rent (maybe ROTS)?

I haven't seen the OOT in almost three years now. But that was the GOUT.

Too bad there is a legal barrier to watching these films.

Ha, yeah. That's actually the only channel that plays them so it evens out.

Spike coughed up somewhere between $65 to $70 million for exclusive broadcast rights, but it's supposed to expire next year. I doubt Disney will want to extend the deal.

I think they'll be okay. I checked their listings today and they were playing an Indiana Jones marathon.
