Just learnt (belatedly) that while in the UK promoting STID, JJ visited the set of Downton Abbey. Lets hope he was on a scouting mission for possible actors for Episode VII on the quiet and singled out Dan Stevens for a major role? :p
OHH I KNEW IT WOULD BE A RUMOR! Rats, I like her personality. She would be great in Star Wars.

I was serious about Dan Stevens btw.

I'd rather see Jim Carter.
Hutts better be puppets or go-motion, none of their CGI renditions have looked good enough to pass for believable.
Im choosing to have faith in JJ's choices for crucial roles for VII. I think the more british/european actors, the better.

Here's a little sub-thread...
Which minor characters would you guys like to see return in the new Trilogy?
Obviously the usual gang plus BobaFett are a given but who else needs more time in the Star Wars spotlight?
And what reason can you come up with to justifiably bring them back?

I'll start, how about...
He could still be running Bespin with Lando. I figure Lando has settled down and gone back to deviding his time between ripping off people by fixing the price of Tibanna-Gas and workin' his way through the entire female phone book of Cloud City. So Lobot would be there doing the heavy lifting admin wise and keeping all of Lando's business sh*t together without a word of thanks from his moutachioed boss!
^ Working for Lando has weighed heavily on poor old Lobot

John Hollis has passed away years ago.
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.
General Madine, if only to finally find out what's with that hairdo! ;)
Where were you in '77?
It looks like he is wearing somebody else's scalp.

^ Madine had HIS dodgy beard-wig put into storage so Ewan could re-use it for AOTC...
...and Madine's hairpiece was actually a wig that the props department found in a bin after Alec Guiness had wrapped Yoda's death scene = Star Wars Fact

Amen to that.
When I wake up in the morning, my hair looks something like Madine's hair.
Abrams, from the article, says "the key to moving forward on something like this is honoring but not revering what came before."
As those words are synonyms, I'm not sure what he's saying.

Yeah I was slightly puzzled by that comment aswell. I just hope the word 'rhyme' doesn't start cropping up.
I'm more concerned of him going in the other direction, playing lip service to Star Wars while not respecting the source material. It's perfectly fine if it "rhymes" - as long as it doesn't imitate and it is done well. There should be surprises that don't parallel the OT, but it should go without saying that Star Wars will be respected/honored/revered.

I'd like to see Denis Lawson return as Wedge, as an elder Jedi along with Luke. He didn't get enough credit in SW and ESB.

Why don't we just make everyone Jedi.

lol, that's kinda what I was thinking.. I'd love to see Wedge involved in the story, but I don't have much interest in Jedis.
Well, there need to be at least a FEW jedi. And Wedge seems a good candidate, just like Obiwan/Anakin were initially star pilots who fought alongside each other (I'm refering to the REAL anakin as described in SW by Obiwan, not the PT jerk "anakin"). Wedge was the real deal and fought successfully alongside Luke. I can't think of a more worthy Jedi-to-be outside of Luke, than Wedge.
Just so long as they don't call him "Wedgie-wan".
