I would not mind seeing Vader on a monitor as opposed to a hologram in AT-AT It honestly makes little odds to me... Providing the bad hologram goes which is obviously not looking so good these days that is the purpose.

A lot of people have commented on the new probe droid video saying that Chewie has snow blowing round him and Han does not.... I know the clip says 100% finish and I am fine with it how it is looks great but.... Is it worth adding some snow particles to shots with Han shooting?

But obviously only a bit. because I don't want for it to interfere with the view of the probe droid itself

honestly I don't mind if it stays the way it is. but you can't remove the snow from Chewie and I see their point.

This off to side of frame might also work - Good this one!

I hate to say this but do we actually need a tiny hologram of Vader in the AT-AT cockpit?

Wouldn't it make more sense to have a small monitor showing a conventional 2d image of Vader?

Vader has the same set up in his chamber and it would remove the eye line problem.

For conference calls and personal messages holographs seem to make sense but this is the cramped interior of a moving military vehicle.

Toning the tech back would make more sense.

I always assumed long distance communication required holograms on the Executor, but communication within the ship used monitors.

I actually like the hologram in the AT-AT.  They're rare in the OT but I think they're cool.

Same here, I think once AdY improves the ESB hologram more people will dig it.

For the record I also liked the idea of a hologram talking to Tarkin from that globe thing on the table in ANH which was attempted by a few people here as a test.

I liked that idea too but I was just thinking that in a cramped space the AT-AT holograph seems a bit of an extravagance.

If I hadn't seen it in 1980 I could have easily imagined the Vader hologram being an SE addition.

Veers Pimped his ride with Red windows a Holo phone and some sub woofers to boot.

Theres a time waster for the special features dvd Veers pimped AT-AT let's not forget the fluffy dice and ride of the valkries blaring out in the background.

Sharon and dave name tag stickers across the top also or something like that.

When veers pull the binocular screen down to view the shield generator it could be replaced with bugs bunny cartoon or road runner.

Love how your miniature of the hanger is coming out. In constructing my 1/48" scale of Echo Base, I used guitar string for the pipes. I was also pointed to piano string and a another off the shelf item that could also be used called "Ugly Toob"

Someone a long time ago (Angel probably) posted a video if a view screen in the AT-AT. I loved it and shoulda saved it. It worked and looked great. I'm excited to see the new hologram though.

I was absentee from the internet when some bullshite happened with that Angel dude. Can someone pm me and give me the lowdown? All I know is that he got pissed or something and took off to another site or some shite like that. I liked his work even if he was a little heavy-handed with his opinions on stuff. And please, no need to start it up again. I just want to be filled in and move on.

Hey, Ade, any chance there'll be an ESB Purist edition, too? Just wondering...

No. Purist changed back major editorial changes in ANHR. There are no major editorial changes to ESBR.

I'll take your word for it, but I actually really liked the more major editorial changes in ANH:R because there was good reason for them.

Although I remember thinking Empire won't need many changes which rings true in terms of what you say about the structure of the film ESB and that very little needs to be done in terms of re-arranging scenes or altering the flow. And taking it more back to pre-special edition status.

I do hope we get something at least bordering on a Major edit to the film... There is only 2 or 3 instances though that I can actually think of where it could perhaps warrant a major edit unlike ANH:R which had quite a bit more.

Do New shots not count as Major edits?

I also hope that you keep the PDF companion booklet showing what was changed that was something I really enjoyed flicking through after watching ANH:R This absolutley must stay part of revisited

The one with all the green text saying what was changed... I really liked it

What PDF?
The Visual Comparison is available on the disc of ANHR in a PDF format.

No, new shots would not count as major edits. Major edits would be timing changes, deletion of lines, rearrangement of scenes (technically, fanedit.org's definition of a "fan edit"). Since the only times Adywan is doing that to ESBR is to bring it back to the theatrical timing and lines, this is technically the Purist version (and not a fan edit in the strictest of terms).

I'd actually put a new shot in the major edit category but since that definition at fan edit is what you are going by... I guess it makes sense now... Thanks

I'll drop the conspiracy theory now...

And that also takes by fan edits definition "major edit" my list down to 1.

Isn't that basically the text commentary track in printed form?

Ady, is it possible for you to give us an update on what's left to be done before the release?

Just watched ANH:R today and was blown away as usual!  lol

about 4 weeks ago it was 20 shots left to do.... There was then a conscious effort by the community that this simply was not enough shots left so a small shower of last ditch ideas...(I am very guilty)... Miniature work would then commence after these 20 shots....

Your guess is as good as mine but the project is done when it is done and it ain't done just yet.

Adywan,

Loved the txt commentary on ANH:R, it's informative and you can still watch the movie. But, last night I heard that radio interview you did a while ago. It was very entertaining stuff, which had me wishing that you'll also do an audio commentary for ESB:R.

Will you be doing this?

I second that Ryan would love an audio commentary also....I listened to that radio interview a few times now....

But then it also dawned on me... The Text commentary without writing a book could have a section about the miniatures and sets that were built for this edit which would also be really quite a nice touch also.

I suggest it either starts with this or ends with a section like this and perhaps a personal message (foreword) also.

And a section on 1st and 2nd unit filming.

Just ideas but would be a really nice touch... That PDF was a major part of it at least for me and I am sure others too. but it seems some people did not know it was there. So that needs fixing and make it a clear seperate download companion.

Holy sh*t! Thanks for the tip Ronster!

Just opened my ANH:R DVD9 *.iso in winrar and discovered there's all kinds of goodies hidden in there! Badass range of optional DVD labels and the aformentioned nice *.pdf file.
