So I take it this book is going to elaborate on Obi-Wan learning from Qui Gon in his exile on the wastelands of Tatooine? For that fact alone I shall be giving it a miss thank you. Just the mere mention and thought of that supposed 'character' makes me look like I'm sucking on a lemon.

I can only see Mark Hamill. It looks nothing like Ewan McGregor or Alec Guinness to me. The power of wishful thinking

It's obviously Kenneth Branagh, you fool.

Yes, let's make Gilderoy Lockhart a Jedi, because he's not a bumbling idiot at all.

Well... perhaps he could put a memory charm on us all to make us forget the prequels.

When the subject of being loyal to both Star Wars and Star Trek was brought up, Abrams told the events that lead to initially turning down the job.

"The worlds are vastly different. Honestly, that was why I passed on Star Wars to begin with. I couldn’t imagine doing both. But when I said that my loyalty was to Star Trek I was literally working on finishing this cut. I couldn’t even entertain another thought. It was like being on the most beautiful beach in the world and someone saying, “There’s this amazing mountain over here. Come take a look.” I couldn’t balance the two, so I passed on Star Wars."

That didn't sway Kathleen Kennedy though as she persisted in trying to get Abrams as he recalls.

"I was near the light at the end of the tunnel with my work on Star Trek. I felt I needed a bit of a breather, actually. But then Kathleen Kennedy [the new Lucasfilm head who oversees Star Wars] called again. I’ve known her for years. We had a great conversation, and the idea of working with her on this suddenly went from being theoretical and easy to deny to being a real, tangible, thrilling possibility. In the end it was my wife, Katie, who said if it was something that really interested me, I had to consider it."

Though many have said that Abrams turned Star Trek into Star Wars, he maintains that the films will still be visually different.

"As with anything, because these are very different worlds, they shouldn’t feel the same aesthetically. They can’t. You’re right. But again, I don’t apply aesthetics first and fit a movie into that aesthetic. If I had come into Star Trek with those eyes, I would probably have been paralyzed. The advantage here is that we still have George Lucas with us to go to and ask questions and get his feedback on things, which I certainly will do. With Star Trek it was harder because I wasn’t a Star Trek fan; I didn’t have the same emotional feeling, and I didn’t have Gene Roddenberry to go to. But I came to understand the world of Star Trek, and I appreciated what fans felt and believed about this universe and this franchise."

Of course it's Ewan. Why would a book called "Kenobi" be about an old Luke Skywalker?

I don't imagine it would. I was just talking about the picture.

Oh, he's a character, alright ... just not in any universe the OOT takes place in.

Yeah a character that made you feel like you were drowning in wall paper paste. I've heard some say he was the best 'character' in TPM? But that's not saying much. It's kinda like saying, "OH Good I've got syphillis! The best of the STD's.

Kennedy said Base FX is expected to play a role in future Lucasfilm productions, among them the three upcoming installments of the Star Wars franchise. “The Star Wars universe is full of technological and cutting-edge effects, which Base FX will be a wonderful partner to create with,” she said at the ceremony.

Yes, Carrie Fisher confirmed to a rapt audience at the BMO Centre Saturday afternoon that she will in fact be reprising her most famous role of Princess Leia in a new series of Star Wars films, which will be produced by Disney. She was the first of the original cast members to announce her participation back in March, although apparently jumped the gun. Her publicist later said she was joking and that nothing had been confirmed.

However, it seems to be a done deal now. But for fans looking for a sneak-peek of what to expect in the new film, Fisher didn’t offer many juicy details.

“I like being bought by Disney, because they never wanted to buy me before,” she said during a talk at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo. “I’m glad they are doing a new movie because they are sending a trainer to my house so I can get in really good shape. So I’m really eating a lot of sugar in advance, as you can see. By the time I really get down to it I will have eaten everything.”

With a 2015 release date, the wheels on this thing have probably been turning far longer than anyone thought. It wouldn't surprise me if there's concept art already being done.

This is what I think. Read today that Disney has sent Fisher a personal trainer so she can get in shape. Leads me to believe we may be looking for shooting to begin before the years out. Possibly after the summer, say Sept/Oct time?

The start date for principal photography has been one of my big questions. If they want to go back to the old way of doing things, they won't even start shooting until next year. Most movies, whether big or small, don't tend to start shooting much more than a year in advance. Star Trek Into Darkness started shooting way back in February of last year, for what it's worth. That's still less lead time than the prequels.

Star Trek is only slightly less complicated than a Star Wars film, and as a sequel has the advantage of sets, props, and costumes already existing from the 2009 outing. This film is pretty much going to be starting from scratch. There's not much from the prequels that can be used.

Studio space either in Hollywood or where the prequels were shot is going to have to be booked pretty soon, if it hasn't been already.

There were a number of questions for J.J. Abrams about Star Wars but he pushed those away by saying it was too early for decisions, however he did say that he expects John Williams to return and compose the score for Episode VII (something long-time Arams collaborator Michael Giacchino has said he supported).

Hey, all... just signed up here, since I'm a fan of only the original SW trilogy. My best friend has been telling me forever about the Thrawn Trilogy as well, so I recently bought that, but have yet to read it. Anyway... as someone who is also a lifelong Trekker, I am NOT a fan of what J.J. Abrams has done to that franchise, nor am I happy about the prospects for what he will do to this one.

He's gonna futz it up like he did with Star Trek. Nothing good will come out of this. I wish people would realize that there ARE other directors out there besides this Abrams dumbass.

Based on what you and my friend Dan both have said, I find myself also wishing for a Thrawn movie trilogy.
