Would you mind sharing the 35mm stills you have? They might prove useful if they're in good quality.

They are only online scans will sort them in a bit.

I am not saying I or they are right, just want to get that out there, I only did this for fun and the mention of pink tones caught my ears!

They are not mine, someone here sent me them and i am sorry but I have forgotten who! :( I am up at 5am for 6 weeks and my brain is mush

Ah, I already had those. I hoped you had some bigger 35mm scans!

Actually, after checking that shot with the kids in photoshop, the only really visible difference when matching them up, BD vs 35mm is that in the 35mm, the hue of reds is more towards orange.

So your bottom pic there is WAY more correct than the top one.

What would you guys like to see on this for extras, not T2, just asking about T1 for now, we want to keep it to extras not yet released on BD, and just rare cool shit, see we are trying to figure out if this really needs to be a BD50, the encode now is at 30 Mbps AVG and is only 19.5 GB's, so if there is not much for extras then we should be able to encode it a just a little less and use a BD25 instead, so please share your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks

*right now all we have is  the video, 2 audio tracks(LD PCM and DTS-HD MA 5.1) and the making of documentary, I am tossing around the idea of possibly making a custom Iso Score, but sometimes it is very hard to figure out where the tracks go lol, so I am not real sure on this.

Do you plan to include all the extras from the 2001 DVD? There's a ton of stuff on there.

Also, what did you think of the Drew Cummings "The Making of: Terminator" documentary I sent to you and You_Too? Was the quality good enough?

That one's never been officially released with any Terminator set. It also seems to focus on the special effects, unlike the two documentaries on the 2001 DVD.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I think it was good enough. It was a bit blurry but that's natural since it was a TV documentary from the 80's shot on video.

I looked for that everywhere, it is elusive

I just rented it for $1.99 from Amazon Prime and de-DRM'd it with iSkysoft.

You can order the DVD from Amazon, but it costs ~$15. o.O

I also think that overall, T2 needs a slight saturation increase as well as balancing out the pink skin tones.

I agree. T2 definitely needs less pink skintones.

Funny you should say that, I just tried an encode to match a few 35mm stills and the results are interesting to say the least, will post shots in a bit if no one minds me hijacking the thread a little.

Far from 100% happy it is only my first run (and I was only messing wanting to encode something at 4k for a friend), but there is something to be said for a slight change.

Hmm... Who is Mr. Teal & Orange now?
*kidding* :P

Some details on what's been done to T2:

The reds have been reduced in intensity to remove some of the very saturated pink-ish skin tones. It wasn't possible to correct that issue more because if removing the pink from skin tones completely, reds would turn orange.

The overall RGB balance has been corrected since it was missing just a slight bit of green.

Whites are crushed in this master and the rest had a bit too bright gamma, giving some colors an undersaturated look, this has been improved by making dark areas slightly darker without crushing the black level, and the whites have been taken down from 255 to 240 while balancing the close-to-whites so they blend better, not looking as blown out.

Might not be visible in these small shots, but we've dug up some extra detail from within the grain, and sharpened it to correct the blur caused by the incorrect aspect ratio resizing that had been done to the master. Now it's got the correct aspect ratio and more detail is visible too.

Mine for comparison, I think you struck the best balance. Can you post a shot from yours with the kids?

I'm very happy to have found this thread!

The color correction looks great!

Is there any way the OP could be updated to list everything going on here?

I will once I know what to add and have more specifics, right now we are re doing the color and other stuff with the video's and I am putting the LD PCM track in synch with T1, but I will once I have more info just like I did with Conan, our SW projects and NOTLD 90 SE.

Nice! Which version of T2 is it (theatrical, SE, Ect.)? And will you be doing deleted scenes from either film? (dunno exactly what is included on the BDs so I'm not sure the deleted material is even available in HD)

Both are Theatrical only, we will post more info soon.

You have to do theatrical to get the "cds" mix to sync, plus it's the best version

Thanks! And yes, in yours there's too little red and you've crushed the blacks slightly.

But don't worry, our version will look great! And if a new master turns up, be sure that we'll fix it if we can. But since James Cameron said that he's thinking about a 3D conversion of T2, I bet he will do the same as with Titanic: Not only change the color timing but also insert or remove stuff using CGI.

Hey DJ! I have that DVD, along with The Making of Robocop that was released at the same time. If the project needs it I can get it to you somehow.
