EDIT: LOL, Google Translate won't translate "Star Wars" to "la guerre des étoiles" unless I specifically type "The Star Wars", otherwise it just spits out "Star Wars".
Even weirder is that sometimes they will take an American film and give it a new title...in English.

The Hangover -> Very Bad Trip
Varsity Blues -> American Boys
No strings Attached -> Sex Friends
Having an English title gives it a certain cache, and I think it's catchy with the younger crowd who like mixing in English words with their speech more and more.
As far as not translating certain words directly... I think there are certain words that can be translated but that there is always something subtle missing in the translation. For example Speed is monosyllabic, and we automatically think of fast. It's quick to say and it sounds cool. La vitesse is the translation in French, but it doesn't sound as cool. When French people hear it, they don't really think of Fast right away, they see is as a quantifier of movement. Is it slow is it fast? It's clinical sounding and not very marketable.
It's like Jaws, which is translated in French as The Teeth of the Sea. They could have called it "Les Machoirs" (literally the jaws) but it sounds incredibly stupid. It takes its literal meaning and people might think it's a film about dentistry or something.

I know, but what I found odd was that they bothered to, more or less, add the "the" so they could translate it to French, when it can be argued it didn't really need to be translated in the first place.

The French language uses articles - definite and indefinite - all the time, unlike in English. Indeed, the singular, feminin article La is needed.
Starfix is a magazine geared towards hardcore fans, and I think they chose an English title to make it sound cool. Afterall, can you think of one science fiction film from France since the days of Méliès?
Although, it should be said that the French are using La Guerre des Etoiles less and less and using the English Star Wars more and more. I could be wrong, but I think the French title is used to refer to the 77 film only.

I think it would, actually.
Made a couple folks very happy by showing them 2.1 recently, and am still looking forward to a disc with menus etc. The comparison shots will be especially great I think, so more folks can appreciate seeing all the work that went into the changes. Still in awe of many of the parts, and all the tiniest details.

Actually, if I remember correctly, that poster (the BEST RotJ poster, and I will brook no argument on that, thank you - pissed no end when they stole it for the ESB:SE poster) was always coloured that way. Strange but (?) true!
And now back to you regularly scheduled pacing the floor waiting for feeding time...er, the BD release.

If by "they" you mean "Drew Struzan" and by "stole" you mean "re-used his own artwork" and by "ESB:SE" you mean "ROTJ:SE", then you're right.

Les dents de la Mer is not bad. There one French title that I think is better than the original, it's Deer Hunter - Voyage au bout de l'Enfer (Journey to the End of Hell).
However there are some that are so bad they give away the plot: Shawshank Redemption is "Les Evadees" (the Escapees) or have nothing to do with the story: Carlito's Way is "l'Impasse" (Blind alley or Dead end).
Quebecer here, you never see it referred to as anything except "La guerre des étoiles". It's definitely not just for the 70mm or 1977 release, its the normal name of the whole franchise. But then you will see "Star Trek"...

Hmmm, interesting! I'm in France and both Star Wars and La Guerre des Etoiles are definitely used. However, I don't really have any French friends who are big fans of the movies, nor hang out at any French Star Wars forums, so my hypothesis was purely conjuncture in nature.
Star Trek on the other hand is REALLY obscure in France. Most people here might have heard of the name Spock, but before the 2009 reboot, it only had a really tiny following.

You know, I do believe I totally boneheadedly misremembered that poster so I'll eat that one. You're sort of right - he actually didn't use it for RotJ:SE either, but used a different piece that was so similar it might as well have been the same piece. So if by "re-used his own artwork" you meant "didn't re-use his own artwork" then yes, you were also correct. Touche! The point though was that the original RotJ poster had the blade colours reversed.
Oh, and, ummmm...I certainly hope that...ah....Harmy doesn't end up using either for this project, which is totally what this here thread is about. There, that should keep someone's panties out of a knot.

I found another hungarian audio, from the 1995 Thx vhs edition. It is 1h56min long, so I stretched it for 2h1min what the duration of the deed is. My problem is, despite I synchronize it to the movie, a few minutes later it's being late again. Can you help me, to make that audio fitted?

It's off topic here! So if you want to discuss it pls do it in the technical section. But, in short, you have to be 100% sure that the speed is right. If it is, then you have to be aware of all the cut differences of the two versions, and do the syncing (strictly cutting and pasting) according to those.
Normally I would be wary about any edit that used either the 2004 or 2011 video since the colors were so screwed up. But after reading more on the first page about how various sources were used (including 1997) and it was color corrected, I'm very impressed.
Is there a section where you have screenshot comparisons or examples of the differences or how you undid the SE shots. For example did you use any early VHS/LD captures as a guide to how the colors might have looked before the film faded as much?
I had heard about this edit before but I never really read this thread until today and I certainly don't want to read through the whole thing. (sorry don't have time.)

The reference Harmy has primarily used for this is an IB Technicolour print if I am not mistaken. The colors in SW restorations are always a hot topic, but I'm sure most here would not be able to take issue with the process Harmy has used to correct. There is a comparison slideshow floating around that compares the original bluray and the various versions of the project.
