AVCHD 24p playback problem

I am wondering why on both my PS3 and Sony BDPS480 blu-ray player will only play AVCHD discs in 60hz not 24p? (the video is 23.97fps). I should add, normal blu-rays discs will work at 24p.

Has anyone got this working on the PS3 or any blu-ray player successfully at 24fps/24hz and if so, how?

Many thanks

Yes my PS3 will play AVCHD discs at 24p, don't think I had to change anything to get it to work, everything at default.

Both my PS3 and Sony blu-ray player have the 24p/24hz setting enabled and blu-rays play fine and work at 24p/24hz, it's just other video content does not - even though the frame rate is 23.97fps!

My TV is a year old Panasonic GT30 Plasma, which has no problem doing 24Hz playback on blu-ray movies.

Taking all things into account, someone suggested to me the file structure of the AVCHD, so I'm assuming maybe it is not reading it right and defaulting to 60Hz? I'm going to try and play with the file structure of AVCHD and see if that changes anything - maybe I'm not doing it right!

If you have harmy's despecialized v2.1 AVCHD, I can confirm this plays in 24p on my ps3 & samsung tv.

I can confirm this is a problem for me as well. All editions. Either from disk, file, dlna, remuxing into a MKV container you name it. My oppo bdp93, which normally has marvelous 24p cadence, will always play Harmy's at 60hz. However the setup downstairs, playing dlna from a WD TV Live, it will pick up 24p and roll it that way. This is driving me nuts as the QDEO based Oppo is my preferred option. It has to be something in the encoding, I have about 200 other hi res MKV's that play 24p mode just fine. Thanks for this edition though Harmy, even at 60hz, its a joy to watch.
