Having said that, if the fans flock to see this and continue to support Disney's various Star Wars projects rather than boycott them en masse to make a statement about the OOT, then.....Ah, hell then it won't make any difference anyway.

Change.org is truly abused... ugh. I detest that website because people use it for causes like this. I'm sorry, but "bring back Toonami" or even things that actually matter like restoring the Original Trilogy don't belong on a website mostly dedicated to social justice issues. They really need a screening process there...

My apologies if it seems like I'm jumping down your throat chyron8472 but this is a huge pet peeve of mine.

No problem at all. :)

I was just pointing it out since I saw someone on FB link to it and I frequent here often enough.

First they came for the space operas but I didn't speak out because it was just bunch of movies about apemen and robots.

Seconded! That's crazy!

Petitions like that only make the rest of us look bad.

And how is anyone supposed to take the petitioner seriously with that profile photo? It looks like he has LSD stickers on his face!

Winter is coming to Houston I notice.

So we have to not have LSD blotters on our faces to be taken seriously now do we?

I applaud the guy.

Cultural heritage is vitally important.

If they can get at Star Wars they can get at Shakespeare and if they can do that you can forget your bills of rights.

IMO they have a good track record on this sort of thing; I hope they keep it up.

Wait, can we use that petition to get them to bring back LSD blotters?

And Obama is awesome for bringing back Arrested Development! I can't wait.

I mean, don't we already have a petition? Or have I misinterpreted this site?

The petition itself is not the problem (although, don't the distribution rights remain with Fox?)

The problem is the fact the petition is being submitted via Change.org.

 Spoiler free for the ST

I know what change.org is but A) isn't a bit daft to think any online petition organ is sacred or worthy of genuflection? B) culture is genuinely important for the reasons I joked about earlier.

If someone were to fence off a national monument or a site of historic interest, neglect it and direct people to a badly made replica in a different town would that be worthy of a petition on change.org?

Star Wars is probably more culturally important than some protected historical locations because it is truly international and cross generational.

Well said, Dr. Bing Owings. I agree.

Nobody is denying the cultural impact of Star Wars. It's just in the wake of silly petitions to have the government build a real working Death Star, who's going to take yet another fanboy petition seriously?

Disney has the keys to the Lucasfilm vault now.

The road to acceptance of our cause is tedium.

Once people find the notion of not having the original films preserved available to legally purchase and publicly view is so unremarkable and mainstream it will have to happen.

So no I don't rope this guy's contribution with building a life-sized Death Star.

Obviously one is impossible and the other is so simple it's almost painful.

I wonder what it would take to build a real life Death Star. An asteroid belt like ours wouldn't posssess enough raw material. You'd probably have to demolish entire planets to get what's needed.

Hmmm ... thinking about it, the Death Star becomes really redundant if you already possess world-devastating technology!

It would probably be easier to hollow out an asteroid and mount the superlaser inside. But it's probably not as scary looking when it shows up to annihilate you. ;)

Real Death Star? J.J. Abrams to direct? Jeez, I'm gone for a little while and everyone etc.
