Is interlaced YV12 sufficient to store all LaserDisc chroma?

Topic says it all. Reason I'm asking is because I'd like to archive some stuff to x264's lossless mode.

It should be, as DVDs have higher chroma resolution than LDs and they use YV12.

If you plan to IVTC: Capture in 4:2:2 (or better) and then convert to YV12 prior to the final encode. IVTCing YV12-captured material destroys the chroma of the original "C" frame of a 3:2-pulldown'd NTSC source.

I agree with AntcuFaalb, you should capture YUY2 (4:2:2) - interlaced YV12 can be the source of all sorts of confusion.

Also if it's film-based material you are archiving then carrying out an IVTC and encoding as progressive YV12 would be more efficient.
