that's another thing.   Men need to learn how to shave.  I have no objection to a beard, but either grow a beard or shave.   Don't have something in between(unless you are in the process of growing a beard), it makes you look like a bum.

My stubble beard gets me laid.

+1

The stubble is sexy. It's not just somebody's opinion, it's actually been scientifically proven:

There are some people who can't pull it off, but those who can...... aaaayyy!

I only shave once every few weeks.  It's the only way I have time to post here. ;-)

Anyway, what were people's thoughts on Michele Obama presenting an award? I'm a fan of the Obamas but I've never liked how they use media. I feel like something like that should be beneath a person in a position of such power. It's not quite as horrible as Barack himself on say the Late Show, but it not only surprised me - it shocked me. And to give her Best Picture? Oh, I mean, COME ON.

Yeah, I mean she's not even a movie, she's a person.

I'm still a bit confused on why some people say McFarlane was "edgy" or "crude" with his jokes. Why because he made a Rihana joke? Wow, Jay Leno did that everyday in his monologue for a week. I didn't think he was funny, but I certainly didn't think he was tasteless or anything. In fact, with his genuinely impressive singing and dancing and clean looks in a tux, I thought he was one of the classier presenters the Oscars have seen in a while, maybe that's why he came off a bit on the dull side.

I personally couldn't give less of a shit about what people wear to the Oscars. Tuxes are appropriate, obviously, but I think be annoyed by what type of tie someone has on is quite silly.

I just personally think the bow tie looks right with the tux and the regular tie does not.

Oh I agree. I'm a huge bow tie fan. My statement stands though.

My wife and I fast forwarded through the first two hours on Hulu, just stopping for the musical bits. The opening bit was pretty good, once things got rolling & it wasn't Seth awkwardly reading jokes off a teleprompter. I'm still torn on Kirk showing up. I'm sure it was something Seth wrote when he realized he had all the power, but each skit he showed went on WAY too long, just like Family Guy does a lot. We get it, singing about boobs is funny, we got that after the first verse, you didn't have to perform the whole song complete with chorus (though the last part about Kate Winslet was pretty good).

My wife loved seeing Daniel Radcliffe & Joseph Gordon Levitt, two of her crushes, sing & dance together. Having Jennifer Hudson sing between Catherine Zeta-Jones & the cast of Les Mis shows why more movie musicals should hire SINGERS first and actors second, though the sampling of Les Mis wasn't as terrible as I had imagined (except for Russell Crowe).

The Bond piece was OK, Halle Berry should have been the last person up there presenting when I'm sure you've got at least 2 Bonds in the audience. Missing the opportunity to have all 5 up there makes me sad, though Shirley Bassey singing Goldfinger was pretty awesome.

We got to Adele singing Skyfall just before we had to leave, say whatever you want about her, we think she's a great singer.

Tonight I'm sure we'll fast forward through the last hour.

We had a good laugh after the orchestra dropped "All That Jazz" by a third from the intro so CZJ could sing it.

If I wanted that much singing in my Oscars, I'd watch the Tonys.

That's actually just the nature of the song.
