I'm...sorry?

Just something I noticed while searching high and low to get a hold of it.

I was simply noting that you were one who had downloaded a copy of the archive (as indicated by your post 108 on this thread where you note it as having been invaluable to you and that you're waiting on an update from Brash) . . . but that you also (as noted at fanedit.org's forum) suggested the public link be removed in post 51 on the grounds of copyright.

In other words, you got it and have it, but then prevented others from getting it. I know you had the best of intentions relating to the board and legalities and whatnot, and probably didn't intend for him to remove the whole linked thing at all, but still, from the perspective of those of us who are coming to the party a little late, you picked the ripe fruit then burned the forest.

Hence my statement:  "I see that some of you, such as Frink who initially made the post to have the link removed, have enjoyed the use of the collection.   And yet, it is gone from the collective mind of the internet.   That's a very sad loss for everyone else."

I was hoping that this sort of statement would serve as a plea to one of the people who got a copy to share (or at least share some info about the filename or something).

And since I've caught your interest, and even shared something new with you, might I please have a little taste, kind sir?

While that's going on...

Does anyone know about a pure voice recording of Leia's hologram transmission? I remember separating the channels from the Wookiegroomer version of the film and pulling out just the voice, which gave halfway decent results, but then I lost the files and that version of the film with a computer crash. I'm sure someone has done this before for work on fan trailers, and if I can avoid all that headache it would be much appreciated.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

If I share, and I haven't decided yet, it won't be for your benefit, kind sir.

Not only is there extra Watto dialogue in the TPM DVD menu and in both the Dreamcast and N64 Podracer games.

There is also Podracer Revenge, the lesser known PS2 podracing game.

It also has a different race announcer to Greg Proops.

How was I discourteous exactly?  I mentioned Frink, he seemed confused by it, so I explained further.  As I clearly said, I am sure his heart was in the right place.  Sorry if a good memory and the desire to back up what I say with links is somehow offensive to you, Timmy, but I don't appreciate you reading emotional nonsense in to what I said.  At worst, I am guilty of noticing requests ignored in the thread for months / years and hoping to throw in a little guilt trip action into the plea, targeted at those who had the data (obviously not including Brash who doesn't) , since obviously normal requests to them had fallen on deaf ears.  I had searched long and hard for many days and had nothing to lose.  Thank you.

I wish I could help, but as I've stated previously I have all (or nearly all) the files after backing up my failed hard drive, however the folder structure wasn't retained. In other words, everything I'd sorted became unsorted. I do intend to get started on it again, but unfortunately it won't be any time soon. I did start again a few months ago, but life has got in the way again.

I also think people are misinterpreting NLH's post as being more aggressive than it was intended to be. Remember, people, that tone doesn't come across over the internet and it's often very easy to offend without meaning to.

No worries, no rush, and thank you for reading.  It is your time and effort freely shared and it is most appreciated.  Feel free to toss the TCW Republic sounds in when the time comes, and any others I can provide between now and then.

Here's what I will do, if brash wants.  I will upload whatever I have, send him the links, and then he can distribute as he wishes.

I would just prefer to not get 50 pms asking for links.

Kinda off-topic, here, but... to anyone that's played the Episode I Podracing game, you know when you finish a race and you see the results, on that screen you can hear Watto humming a tune, off key and casually. Is it me or is he humming the "Cantina Music"?
That's bothered me for ages.

It is, it's been used in a number of TPM fan edits (Magnoliafan's is one example if I remember correctly).

While we're on this topic, I wanted to lament a particular site called Fan-Files.net that had a great collection of ripped SW sound FX intended for fan films. Previously it had been known as the Sound Bunker on TheForce.net. Does anyone know if there's a backup somewhere of the files that used to be on that site?

Most of the files had been ripped from various sources, including games. I remember grabbing all of the archives hosted there, only to have my hard drive get corrupted by a root kit and require a reformat. Some of the sound effects were really interesting, too.. lots of ambient effects, even some of the source files Ben Burtt used for the speeder bikes. I've been a sad panda ever since.

Is there any way to get a hold of these sounds?  I'm working on a really important project to go in my design portfolio and I need a couple of key sounds, like a ship coming out of hyperdrive, or hologram effect noises.

I've done my part.

TV's Frink, would you be willing to lend the sounds to me in PM?  Or perhaps just certain sounds on request?

Hello, long time crevice denizen here. I was about to link to this thread from your own (merge?).

I recommend you start a project thread here as what you are doing sounds fascinating.

Is that Rochester Kent?

I used to study in Canterbury and take trips out to that Rochester.

Nice place.

I'm not rochester Kent, but I'm from the area.  I'm just starting to worry because I thought finding some of these sounds wouldn't be too hard, but the Star Wars communities around the web have been very cold and not very helpful :/

I'm not on forums much, whats FFS Frink?

I'm really hoping someone here with the sounds I'm looking for can help me out, honestly its the hologram ambiance I'm mostly after or anything that can pass as it.

edit-

I'm not sure who that "for fuck sake" is aimed at but I hope its not me.  If you are willing to help get the sounds out there I'm not sure why you wouldn't be willing to give it out here?

Because I don't want to send people the links via PM.

Why, you ask?  Maybe because I don't want to deal with someone like you, who...

1) Posted in this thread asking for the sounds
2) Created a separate thread asking for the sounds
3) PM'd me asking for the sounds
4) PM'd me a SECOND time asking for the sounds before I could even respond to your first PM.

Furthermore, this is Brash's project, and he really should be the one distributing it.  I sent him the links, but he has chosen to ignore me (I know he has read my PMs but has not responded).

...

If an ot.com regular is willing, I will PM them the links and they can handle distribution.  I will not be doing it myself.
