That cover looks awesome! Always loved the front cover poster.

Was the cover made available yet? Did I miss it?

OK, I just received a few raw ESB shots from Puggo and they really confirmed for me, that releasing these projects as DVD, especially DVD5, is a really bad idea - if the raw files were upscaled to 720p and then encoded using some non-prehistoric codec, they could look great! For me, the PG and PSB DVDs are pretty much unwatchable, but what makes them unwatchable, isn't the fact, that they are grainy 16mm transfers with a lot of dirt in them - all that actually adds to the cool factor of this project - it's the ever-present super-ugly mpeg2 compression. See for yourselves:

I agree, in fact I had a play with a raw clip from Puggo a few years ago (see pages 10-11) which came out looking great at 720p when encoded with x264.

Both images look very poor. There will be better encodes and transfers of the 8mm and 16mm eventually.

Although these versions are still favorites of many members of our team, regardless of compression or being on DVD5.

I'm still surprised that people enjoy watching them.  I had always considered them as research material (and they have proven useful in that regard).  As such, I tried to make them in the most easily accessible and distributable format, and will build ROTP in the same manner.

Of course, I'll continue to make the original captures available to anyone wanting to use them for other projects, such as was done for the grindhouse version, or if someone has the means and desire to produce a hi-def version.  A couple of people have inquired, but backed away after learning it was a bit more work than simply upconverting.

Let's also hope for a complete 8mm mono track, which I understand to be yet another ESB audio variation.

There are several 8mm and 16mm out there, and possibly being worked on. I'm not sure which one is which, some are Super 8, some are Derann.

It's better to sign up at AMPS to see what the developments are.

But just remember, they are all taking awhile to be done, and the progress is slow but steady before we see anything, some members might have the raw scans.

There is an ESB print which could possibly be used for a very good color reference for future versions and edits.

Holy...it never occurred to me that the simple DVD-5 size compression could do so much, but it makes sense. I agree with Puggo that it's an easy way to send it out but at the same time I would love a simple mkv or similar version without the mpeg2.

Despite this, these are my favorite versions and I eagerly await ROTP.

After seeing Puggo Grande I was very interested in downloading this. However, I do not have Usenet access, so I tried tehparadox. However, it seems that some of the part links are dead. Is it possible you could re-upload it please as I would very much like to watch it.

I for one am glad for the DVD-5 versions because dual layer projects are difficult to burn and blu-rays are impossible for me.

Puggo's SW and ESB are the most authentic versions so far until negative_1 comes out, IMO.

I doubt you're an idiot. Everyone has a brain-fart every now and then.

Usenet is not a bittorrent service. Unlike bittorrent, you can't get anything good for free (private registration required or otherwise) with Usenet.

You can if you look hard enough, but there's a data limit. I remember using it to get...the X9 project maybe?

I remember trying Usenet  about a month ago, finding it for free there, but part was missing.
