Fixed.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Hey y'all, been lurking around the forum for a while trying to wrap my mind around the whole process. Anybody still have any Spleen invites left? Is there a place to find people with invites available?

And how come the MKV of Star Wars 2.0 is nearly twice as large as the AVCHDs of all the 1.0 releases?

Because the MKV's better quality. There's an 8GB AVCHD of v2.0 as well.

This topic has alrady addressed that. Here is a brief recap:

With either the right playback gear OR the the right eyes/vision compression in the data packets is highly noticable via artifacts, color depth and so on...

Harmy is spending what may amount to thousands of hours, to have it ruined in the absolute final phase in order to save a few GB would be a huge crime. It's 2013 not 1999, rather hard to believe there are those concerned with an extra 10-15GB.  Regardless of the compression method there is ALWAYS loss.

Luckily for mankind Harmy agrees and his efforts will not be comprimised by a small faction thats seems to be only concerned with getting 2.1 or 2.5 [I like 2.5 better] small enough to fit on a phone or some other device with a teeny tiny display. Don't get why anyone woudld want to see it that way myself, as this is meant to be seen in full glory on a large screen. Kudos to harmy for not yielding to the faction who seems to desire a result worse than what Lucus would allow us.

Those who for whatever reason want smaller file size there are plenty of free tools that will allow you to do (ruin) that ON YOUR OWN and google/yahoo/duckduckgo/etc can be your friend unless you are too lazy of course....

dblake83, I really don't believe that TK-423 was advocating for a smaller file. He's asking legitimate questions about an apparent discrepancy in file size between versions. Please don't jump down his throat or assume he wants anything other than clarification. Let's try to keep the dialog civil here.

Yes. I'm hoping for a release next month - only reel 6 left to do and I don't recall there being much I wanted to fix - I just don't have the time to work on it just now.

Thanks so much for the invite.  I dled the entire trilogy in their current versions and it was an awesome experience.  Consistency in clarity was entirely convincing even when I knew the source was GOUT/LD/etc and the more intricate fixes involving matte work were quite perfect.

I'm happy to hear there will be more releases, because I saw issues with black levels and color correction.  Regardless I think this set is the most perfect form of the films in their original state we can hope for at this time.

Hi Harmy,

I'm just as eager to play the fruits of your labour!

I am d/ling as we speak from uloz.to

However, I noticed that parts 47 & 53 of DEED_v2.0 is not loading.

I get the "Bad gateway 502" message.

Can you please possibly reupload these files?

Thanks in advance.

Since the project has evolved beyond just a simple patch here and there, I think 2.5 makes more sense than 2.1 (a nomenclature which I first proposed to begin with). Using 2.1 opens up the possibility of pressure to make 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 &c, esp from people who don't understand how difficult the process of making these restoration edits are. 2.5 is clean and, if I may be so bold, adds extra motive to get things right, once (no, I'm not complaining that 2.5 even has to be made; quite happy with 2.0 here). Also, it's not like releasing in 0.5 increments is unheard of. Maybe for people who don't remember dial-up or something, and why should they be catered to?

One of my favorite parts of the Despecialized Star Wars is the music only track, it really delivers a unique experience to watch without dialog. I haven't gotten a chance to watch the entire film with the music only track but the parts I have seen are very good. I would highly recommend that you extend the same treatment to ESB and ROTJ

I'm downloading the current version (v2.0) right now. I discovered the annoyance that is the CAPTCHA. For all yall, it's the thing that prompts you to "retype these letters" in JDownloader every 10-seconds.

Even after I go through the settings and check "Disable Automatic CAPTCHA" it still does it! This is a real buzzkill. I can't just sit at my computer for 10hrs typing this over and over again. It keeps interrupting the download.

Anyone know how to do away with it for good?

Disabling the automatic CAPTCHA will do the opposite of what you want. jDownloader can automatically fill in the CAPTCHA for you for some sites, which that option disables. For some sites, however, the CAPTCHA has to be entered by a human. If you don't want to have to enter the CAPTCHA, you're going to have to download from a place that doesn't use them.

Ok, then *you* think of a term to encapsulate all of us.  They did not create fan edits, but they are fans and editors.  Ergo they are fan editors.

Or I could have said, "Preservationist Harmy (and a documentarian and some fan editors)," but that would have taken more time.

Anyway, cool stuff (ir)regardless.

Yeah, but he's not editing the movie, is he? He's restoring it, preserving it. Ergo, not a fan edit.

I wasn't about to tell Nathan to not include Despecialized and Filmumentaries due to internal definitions. Though it did cross my mind.

I think it's fine - editing by fans is taking place in both cases, so in general terms, you could call them both fan edits. Like when you take the DeEd, I am technically editing the SE.

This is a silly debate, but is he using an editing program?  Ergo, I'm hungry for waffles.

Yes you are editing the SE - you are cutting out certain shots, for example.

But the role of the editor is much more than that. He/she selects and combines shots from the raw footage to guide the telling and pace of a story. In your case, the artistic decisions have already been made (and recognised with an Oscar) by the original editors, and you are attempting to replicate this version as close as possible.

I see this as very different to your Mike J Nichols or ADigitialMan taking the final cut as their raw footage and attempting to re-imagine the story.

Well, "editing" is also the pure labor of actually assembling the footage. So it can also be completely independent from any creativity ;)

We have less than 48 hours to iron out his official title. I'm putting in a huge order for his business cards Friday afternoon and I need to know what to put in italics underneath his name. When I did Frink's card order I put in Amazing Blowjob Lips.
