So I came back here hoping someone might take those Blu-Rays keep the good lossless audio and just undo all the  bad things Lucas had done to the films. Nobody was doing this however. More recently though I discovered this work-in-progress and am now excited again.

thanks for chiming in.. of course you want to

check out harmys deSpecialized v2/2.1 in HD (720p)

So my questions are as follows. In the OP you say you'll be doing 25GB (mkv and burnable to Blu-Ray) releases but given that most commercial Blu-Ray releases today use 50GB discs is there any chance you might reconsider you position and go with a nice high quality release that would be suited for a 50GB Blu-Ray disc?

we could do that, but for the given bitrate and 1080p,

25G is more than enough space. even with the audio tracks

and bonus trailer. also, we have to keep in mind space issues

for people. there's not that many out there that can get more

than the 9G for a dual layer DVD version... harmy's upcoming

bluray release will be interesting to watch and see how that

release goes...another thing is i don't even have a dual layer

bluray burner, and blanks are expensive, i don't think most

people will go that route either.. just getting the digital files

is fine, but where do you draw the line? we're speculating

about releasing the raw files, and you could downsize

those to whatever you want, but those file sizes are terabytes, and

very impractical...

Other question is in regards to the audio. Will it be lossless (and lpcm would be fine if using TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio isn't an option), that is if it can even be lossless? I know Dolby Digital is kind of a go to standard for sound but I just think if you're going to go the extra mile in terms of image quality why not do so with the sound quality? I mean I know some people out there have really great sound systems so the better the sound can be the more I know those kind of people as well as everyone else will be more than satisfied.

i don't know too much about the audio yet, but for the mono and 35mm

stereo versions, there's not a huge amount more you could push them too.

they'll be in as high quality as the source material allows.

That's all I have for now. Oh and by the way I did check out that 1080p trailer you made. It is a little rough but I definitely love what I am seeing to so far.

the trailer source of 35mm has some elements from the LPP, but

overall that will be in higher quality than the trailer... you can see select
