The War Of The Stars Duology plays out that way.
I find myself mostly just watching SW these days, and I think I find it more enjoyable when I view it as it was in 1977- that is, Vader is not Luke’s father, Luke and Leia are not related, etc. To me, the universe is so much bigger and less confined that way.
This would of course require major editing in the other films, but I’m just curious if anyone has ever considered it?

Yes, we have.

Anchorhead is a writer, a doctor, a nuclear physicist, a theoretical philosopher. But above all, he is a man—a hopelessly inquisitive man just like you

Brilliant!
I like the way that the TWOTS played out and would like to see a serious edit in which Vader is not Luke's father and Luke is not Leia's brother.
And what happened to Davnes' avatar? I didn't think that ever changed.
EDIT: Ah, it seems there's a Bond theme going on.

You forgot about him being a motor cyclist, an apiarist and where all roads to Mos Eisley (or wherever you are going) lead from.
I'm disappointed nobody got my The Master reference.

ALLOL! Bingo, I love your posts. I don't always catch the references, but I often sometimes do. Maybe I should post more often to show my appreciation.
By using dialogue from ROTJ you can make Vader say: "I am your ... sister." in ESB.
Ridiculous!
It would make more sense if he said he was Luke Skywalker.
Making Vader a bit like this guy or this one.
VADER : Obi-Wan never told you what happened to Luke Skywalker. I am Luke Skywalker!
LUKE SKYWALKER : That's not true, that's Impossible!
VADER : Search your feelings you know it to be true.
LUKE REMEMBERS HIS VISION IN THE CAVE AND JUMPS.
Luke was a pupil of Ben's, if he later became Vader that would be before he turned to evil.
Naturally there would have to be some kind of time travel in the Star Wars universe but this is sort of hinted at during Threepio's bath scene in ANH.
If Luke had defeated Vader in ROTJ and took his place Palpatine would have sent him back in time to help his past self take over the Republic.
As Vader saved his younger self this never happened and the Jedi never fell.
Ben and Yoda 'return' physically alive along with all the other Jedi.
Or it could be like Fight Club.
BEN : You have just taken your first step into a larger world, you do not talk about your steps into a larger world, you have just taken your second step into a larger world, YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT YOUR STEPS INTO A LARGER WORLD! During your first steps into a larger world you will let go of your conscious self and act on instinct. If these are your first steps into a larger world you have to fight with the blast shield down.
Ridiculous!
I cannot believe this!

Awesome. I got it. Just was slow to get around to this thread. I spit a little coffee on my screen this morning. I don't even know who this Anchorhead is but if he's anything like Lott...eerrrr Lancaster Dodd, he's an interesting cat to be sure.
To that end, If we really want to get mischievious, can we make an edit so that it turns out that Obi-Wan is Luke's father? And that the the reason Anakin goes over to palp is because of legit jealousy? That would be awesome.
At the very least a good trailer could be made.
