Has anyone considered having TWO Alone armies? perhaps the Jedi use the Kamino Clones for the Battle of Geonosis only, and based on the fact that Jango Fett was used as the template, and that Fett worked for Dooku, the Jedi seize the technology and use it to create their own Clone Army?

John Williams score to Return of the Jedi Remastered/Remixed:

Leaving the how you would do that to one side for a moment (new footage would have to be introduced), how would you show this and what would be the point?

The Clones turning on their commanders is a key plot point that has it's origin in being programmed to do that by their commander in chief Palatine/Sidious (not Mace Windu or Yoda).

Also having them use a genetically engineered brainwashed slave army is bad enough without having them commission one for the themselves (though I guess it makes a change from having them brainwash child conscripts).

It would make the Jedi look less stupid (not clever just not very, very thick) but it would make the mysterious baddy that commissioned the original clones look incredibly stupid.

In the original telling the plan does make the Jedi look dumb but the villains are either astonishingly lucky or fiendishly manipulative to pull off such a trick.

For the bad guys to try it and fail makes everyone look a bit stupid.

I concede it is difficult to square this one.

Lucas really didn't even begin to think it through.

All these fan editors' tastes and ideas seem to conflict with each other. This one likes this, but doesn't like that. This one likes that, but doesn't like this. It's getting a bit sickening.

Remove Kamino entirely? How does this help the film?

Wow!

I can see removing silly dialogue, or cutting out worthless scenes that would make the movie better, but to take out scenes that are good regardless if they're unimportant is just rediculous. I mean, why bother gutting a movie if you're left with only half the film? What's the point?

For me (And several others) Kamino complicates the story. Jango Fett is the template for the clones, he's also involved in the attempted assassination (AKA working for Dooku) All these things should be major revelations to the Jedi for them to do further investigation... WHICH THEY NEVER DO! They don't even address the obvious question that someone in the senate might very well be in league with Dooku. There is also the scene where Yoda tells Windu that they shouldn't inform the senate of their diminished powers which would have been a good idea as that would make everyone realize that SOMEONE in the senate is a dark Jedi who is diminishing the powers of the Jedi which makes Yoda look stupid. Anyone think of Yoda as stupid in ESB? No one? Me either.

So, yes in my opinion losing Kamino helps remove all that stupid confusion. And yes it's true in results in a very short movie, but it's a testimony of how broken AOTC is as a narrative. BUt there are some which has been mentioned that would like to do a combination of the best elements of the prequel trilogy which i believe could be done well with careful planning.

You could keep much of the footage Obi-Wan could be meeting with the cloners to negotiate the creation of the army as voted on in the senate (only moved nearer the beginning of the film now that Padme is out of the way).

He could find the army is already created which is mysterious and convenient but less so than having a direct link to the enemy camp flashing away like a big red warning sign.

The fight with Jango and Obi-Wan could instead take place on a landing platform on Coruscant (he could follow him to his ship after he bumps off Zam). Kenobi uses the tracking device to follow him to Geonosis.

There the Clones from the beginning of the film come into play.

So basically much of the same footage (maybe with the cloner's dialogue altered) but restructured so it's less of a twisted brain-wrong of a one-off man-mental.

Great idea. I think the key to unlocking the prequels' potential is to present the events in a more exciting order. Imagine how crazy it would be to have Padme established as a character for half the movie, then to blow her ship up.

Here here. Good idea, and I think reordering things really could fix a lot of the problems. I like what Seciors is doing with Ep II. He's taking the end scene with Dooku and Sidious and putting at the beginning, and trying to remove all pretense that we don't know that Darth Sidious is actually Senator Palpatine. Brilliant, in my mind.

Actually reading my earlier post it doesn't make as much sense as I first thought.

If Kenobi is just in routine negotiations on Kamino where does that fit?

It would make more sense to send Yoda (who turns up with the troops at the end) but very few people would have the technical know how to remove Kenobi from those scenes and replace him with Yoda.

Maybe if a new Jedi was invented for fanedits to replace CGI Yoda or someone else he could be mapped over Kenobi for those scenes.

If it's at the very beginning, it establishes Obi-Wan's character and the clone army.

Maybe it could even be "the border dispute on Ansion" he's returning from. :V

The army thing is difficult indeed. The entire sequence on Kamino is built around the 'mystery', and cutting that, would leave next to nothing.

How I would try to make it fit: by the time AOTC starts, the clone army has already been commissioned, and is well known. The vote Amidala returns to Coruscant for is about whether or not stationing these troops on Republic worlds. This would leave the main plot beats in tact, but would also make the Jedi seem less dense for trusting the army. It would also make the reveal of Order 66 make more impact.

As for showing the army on Kamino, which is necessary because that's what the entire story is about, have Obi-Wan be on a routine inspection to Kamino. Have on character refer to Obi-Wan's mission on Kamino, then cut to Kamino. Introduce the planet using a montage (kind of like how Mustafar is first introduced in ROTS), then cut to Obi-Wan taking the tour, and cutting out the obvious parts. His leaving the planet can be kept as is.

I suppose this is as good a place as any -

As of later today, I'm a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As such, I'll be gone for two years. (Going to Idaho!)

I expect progress when I get back, guys! Thanks for hours of entertainment in watching edits, speculating, and thinking about one of the best film franchises of all time. You've given hope to those who have none! The choize is yours alone! (this is a Shmi reference for those who don't get it)

Goodbye for now,

Has anyone tried simply recoloring the Jedi robes in the PT?

You could have black or deep royal blue or something.

Edit: Also, are we being directed from the saga thread to this one or are ESB&ROTJ and PREQ RAD being directed to SAGA?

For TPM, the gang never has to leave Naboo. It could make an action-packed 45 minutes. Padme just decides to take the planet right back. A little dialogue adjustment. Maybe a little Sith or holograms of the Jedi.

I liked the sarcastic smart-ass Jar-Jar alot. The Gungan city would be more important. Obi stays more prominent. Boss more smartass and without the CGI spittle would be cool. Jedi help them meet the Naboo.

The Gungan battle is just a diversion. They could stand their ground until the droids just break through their lines and then retreat. Less slapstick. Jar could tell them to eat balls and then get caught in the roll.

The vid of the two stoner Jedi with the gang in ANH was pretty good. If someone wanted to find a 13-16 year old who looks like HC and a guy maybe with a beard that looks like EM... They could split-up with Ani leading the pilots into fighter battle and Obi taking Maul alone. EM in the sabre battle could be given the facial hair to match the new Obi in the same costume. I don't know how anyone would erase LN. Not showing the feet might help sell the character replacement shots.

Everyone could reach the low at the same time. Pad captured, Jar falls off the tank and captured, Obi hanging in the pit, and Ani out of power in the base hanger that he entered in some clever way before he crashed. Maybe some shots of the greater part of the droid army going back into the city as ordered. Then someone does something that distracts Maul on his com-link and it all gets turned around.

In many shots it might be simpler to recolor EM and LN with orange or red robes and different hair and things to make them look like Naboo soldiers or police and then super-impose new Obi and new Ani or place them elsewhere in the shot.

         I don't know how to introduce 3PO and R2.

         135 TPM/AOTC and 135 ROTS? 45TPM/45AOTC and 45AOTC/45ROTS then 90ROTS and 90JEDI? ;/
