Ebay drives me nuts sometimes...

Literally the last personal "holy grail" Laserdisc title I've been wanting to find for years pops up, but only on the UK version of the site.

Any way around this little obstacle, short of contacting the seller?

And never mind. I contacted them anyway. Why they only have half of the discs they're selling available to U.S. buyers is beyond me.  It's mostly NTSC stuff.

So, what are your Ebay pet peeves? One of mine is "local pickup only" for items that wouldn't be hard to ship...

I seem to recall someone saying that fees are less if you only list on the local site.

The fact that on the UK site, there are two categories for "laserdisc". (One of them should actually be Laserdisc Players, but has never been corrected.)

I frequently find myself paying for DVDs only to find them pirated and worst still insultingly badly pirated and on occasions have to read the same justifications (the originals are rare etc).

I almost always get my refund though.

One rare instance where I didn't was the clown who pretended to be sister to his own dead self to get out of refunding me £5 despite later putting more things up for sale and leaving feedback for stuff he had paid for.

That and really badly mangled games discs that haven't a chance in hell of working and to receive a refund I would have to pay to post them back which is sometimes more expensive than the disc.

These purchases are profitable because of slightly racked up postage which seem trifling until you look at the sales numbers.

Some of them must be raking it in sending out these pricey plastic coasters.

And then you get some berk who wants you to meet him in a town or city five stops on the train away to save himself the postage of a disc that's cost him 70p.

Sellers that list in erroneous categories and use irrelevant keywords in their title. Wading through the excessive search results caused by these sellers.

US sellers that will not post inexpensive items by first class international mail. The buyers that receive items from the US and claim they didn't arrive that are responsible for it.

Sellers that don't give you feedback for payment until you leave them feedback. I paid first gorramit...

If you don't mind me asking, what is the title?

I don't like US sellers who only ship to the US (it's easy & cheap to ship to Canada, y'know), and I hate cheap knockoffs that are presented in a way meant to fool you that they're authentic (there's a LOT of this). Otherwise I love eBay. They have EVERYTHING, and I use advanced search a lot in case somebody listed out-of-category!

As the person who created the entry is long gone, and there never was a cover photo I could find elsewhere, I thought this might be one of those vaporware titles that was cancelled.

I have the U.S. version, and a few of the movies riffed on the series in my LD collection as well.

I saw that in the theaters at a pre-release party.  Best movie experience ever!

Cool! Were there any promotional goodies to be had?

Got together with a friend to go see it, as the nearest theater showing it was almost fifty miles away. The angle and size of the screen made it seem like Mike and the bots actually were sitting in the front row.

I thought my ticket stub was lost forever. Finally found it a few years back, and framed it with an ad for the movie.

That is a great movie.  I never saw it in theaters though.  What is the difference between the HK and US versions? I imagine if you explained how long you've been looking for it the seller might consider selling it to you.  I've had that happen a few times in the past.

Aside from the jacket artwork, it's probably identical except for subtitles. It might be open matte, which means the puppeteers heads pop up in frame more than they do in the widescreen version. ;)

Still haven't heard back from the seller yet.
