The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread — Page 246

...Or we could just pretend he and Obi-Wan are back from a more lighthearted mission and have the scene there. Shows more of the Clone Wars, makes more sense, avoids the balcony scene.

IMO, if all your life is a tragedy, then it's not a tragedy, it's a misery.

Anakin should know happiness sometime in his life. It's just one scene, referring to his original felicity at the begining of the movie. And we see how he ends.

Author
Time

Um, there's literally a line in the scene where she tells him, where he says "this is the happiest moment of my life."

Allright. I guess I commited the crime of sharing some ideas, and so I was punished by being laughed at. and ridiculed. Won't participate on this thread anymore.

Just one thing Frink; hope that when you have to write in another language you do it with not even one typo or wrong word.

Cheers.

Joke is on you, I don't know any other languages.

I loved all of your ideas. I wasn't laughing at you, I was pointing out the preference most people have for avoiding the balcony scene.

I didn't see anyone laughing at him.  People take this place too seriously sometimes.

Your ideas are very welcome on this thread.

I'm always overawed by people who can express themselves in a language other than the one of their birth but Frink does have a point.

Generally speaking it's best to assume people are having fun free of charge rather than at your expense.

Even so does it really matter?

Lucky he didn't say anything about the dirty knife.

OT.com is probably the nicest place anywhere on the internet (not kidding), so probably best to assume that any "attack" is all in good fun:)

I wish that I could just wish my feelings away...but I can't.  Wishful wishing can only lead to wishes wished for in futile wishfulness, which is not what I wish to wish for.

Wow. Seriously, anyone who's been on this board longer than five seconds knows that 99.9% of what Frink says is meant to be humor.

The Felicity reference was meant to be funny... It was funny. I thought it was funny. I would have thought it was funny had I used the word felicity. Finally, you should have thought it was funny. It was not a stab at your or your character.

Sincerely, get a thicker skin. (No jokes here.)

What do you mean, "meant to be?"

Just repeating my recent discovery from another thread.

The 1997 television series The Hunger was hosted by Terence Stamp and it has some really good lines that could beef up his role in the prequels (there might even be a way to have him as a minor support character in the other two PT films).

You say you could cut AOTC down to about 45 minutes. Thats very interesting. Could you go through some of the cuts you'd make? I've been working on cutting TPM for so long, Im just now getting into AOTC to start whittling it down.

We may differ of course depending on how much you hate/like things in that movie. Thanks.

That's the problem with AOTC. There are so many issues and plot issues, that if you were cut it all you're not left with much movie. I find that the film makes a load more sense when Kamino is removed.

It's hit and miss. ;)

I like the Kamino fight. The Kamino visit needs to be shortened. Yeah, no kid and no Fett without his mask, imo. The Kamino gal promises to arrange a meeting and then Obi reports to the masters then goes and finds Fett trying to get away?

I like Dex alot. I expect he'll look great in 3D. The AmGraf diner throws me a little. Maybe Dex could simply tell Obi where Kamino is? He gets fairly specific about it. Skip the Coruscant investigation after Dex?

I think the pregnancy is a natural consequence thing is very clever.

           12 45 36?? Hmmmm...

All these fan editors' tastes and ideas seem to conflict with each other. This one likes this, but doesn't like that. This one likes that, but doesn't like this. It's getting a bit sickening.

Remove Kamino entirely? How does this help the film?

Wow!

I can see removing silly dialogue, or cutting out worthless scenes that would make the movie better, but to take out scenes that are good regardless if they're unimportant is just rediculous. I mean, why bother gutting a movie if you're left with only half the film? What's the point?

Edits are by their very nature alternatives.

There can be as many ideas and combination of ideas as people are prepared to devote time and effort to.

Star Wars films are the biggest target for fan editors and the PT edits make up the bulk of those (probably because the disappointment they caused had such a seismic and long lasting impact).

The problem is, if you were to put ten of these guys in the same room together, you would end up with a five minute movie.

Usually fanedits are done by one person.

So threads like this offer serving suggestions and the editor picks the ideas that work for them and ignore the rest.

I think you missed my point about the ten guys in the same room.

Well, anyway. I can see tweaks and minor fixes to make the film flow better, but to throw out a crucial element of the story such as the events on Kamino is a bit much.

To each his own, I guess.

The idea is to make functional, good movies out of existing material. If you can make a functional, good movie with Kamino then great - if it's something that can be cut, chances are, someone will do it. I personally like to use all three movies in the same stew so that I don't run into them being really short or excessively long.

For me, its not about making a better film. I have few complaints about any of the films. I am however interested in trying to make a 4hr cut of all 6 films as one epic movie. Just for kicks really. So thats why Im interested in trying find a 40-50 minute version of AOTC that works.

I like the Kamino sequences. I especially like any of the Obi-Wan Detective scenes.

so we should stick to the original story?

should we throw creativity out the window?
