Looking at the "Krieg der Sterne" it seems to be a Bootleg of the G'Kar Version...

@ raphael

Thanks for your effort!

@ Laserschwert & TK-949

What do you say, could the Emperor-scene be of some use for Harmy?

Edit: Looks like he's already relying on those sources.

I also noticed that there is weird error on my Krieg der Sterne logo.

Btw, what's the G'Kar version?

It's a DVD5-preservation that uses a German Premiere broadcast of the Special Edition from 1997. I bought it before 2004 on eBay along with original VHS but those DVD-Rs don't exist anymore :-((((((

Therefore, the opening crawl isn't of any use for this project.

The G'Kar set can still be found on MySpleen... I've downloaded it not long ago, so it's still live. But Harmy used another version of the DTV broadcast of the SE, so he was covered. Also the SE crawl isn't of use for the German version of the Despecialization, since it's different from the theatrical crawl. I have the German SE crawl for "Krieg der Sterne" in HD, but I guess my HD recreation of the theatrical crawl is the better choice for Harmy's 2.0

Thanks, now downloading it. 20 % done within a whole day and still slowing down, torrents are such a pain, ya know. On the other hand, the G'Kar is worth it for being the least painfull SE of them all.

2 month later, i think it's time for a small status request. Any updates or news for germanized version?

I hope it's not stopped in the meanwhile.

Well, I'm ready to go and waiting for Harmy's 2.1 version. Since that happens around Christmas, I guess it won't be done before 2013 though.

I'm soooo waiting for this project - any support needed? Or any news regarding timing?

Thanks!!! Can't wait to see the original trilogy with GERMAN crawl again...

I just want to let you know that I'm another poor human being who is searching for the 'true' version and therefore I watch the thread carefully and get more and more worried as there are no updates for a long time now....

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU to get this epic work done!

No need to worry... as I said, I'm still waiting for Harmy's (pretty much final) 2.1 version and add the German stuff to that. And if anybody wants to help: I could still use some more German GOUT-synced audio tracks. Right now I only got the German GOUT audio with all the corrections and fixes I made.

It'd be nice to have a version of the (superb) German Blu-ray audio track synced to the GOUT as well - but having it be non-SE might be very difficult, especially regarding the (prettymuch non-stop) music.

Also the German THX Laserdisc track would be cool.

A little update:

I've started editing the German Blu-ray soundtrack to be GOUT-synced. Trimming it down to length is finished, now I have to make all those edits seamless in all 6 channels, and add in the stuff from EditDroid's 5.1 GOUT-track that was too "SE-ish" to just edit out.

As you can imagine this track isn't technically a theatrical representation, but I feel the restored German dub on the Blu-ray sounds just too great to pass on it. Also this track will be included in DTS-HD Master Audio, so it'll be the highest quality track of the bunch.

Another update:

I've edited the Blu-ray track a bit further, now smoothing out all the edits. Next step: Inserting the EditDroid 5.1 mix to replace the SE parts of the audio track.

Also thanks to _,,,^..^,,,_ and his [OUT ruLes] project I now have an optical PCM rip of the German THX laserdisc. I've already denoised it with Audition and will sync it to Harmy's video track.

Omg, can't wait it!!!!

Hope I don't spam too much, but I'm really nervous about your work....
Again: Thank you so much for the effort.

I hope I will some day own one copy of that :). I think even if it would cost a few hundred € - if it is that good as it sounds, I would give it to you and whoever is involved.

hallo laserschwert

kannst du bei adywans SW:R auch den deutschen bluray ton einfügen?

wäre toll das maL auf deutsch zu schauen.

He! I didn't mean to switch to German. We should stay international ^^.

No, I won't add German audio to Adywan's version. That's a completely new edit and I think you underestimate the amount of work required. Besonders, um ihn nur "mal" auf Deutsch zu schauen ;-)

What do you guys think, should I add the missing lines of dialogue to the THX-track as well? After all it wasn't a creative decision to leave them out, but sloppyness.

I think this is out of question. :)

It would be great to have it in and if it is GOUT synched  can be used for other projects as well.

Hi! I'm doing the German subtitles for Thai Panther's project in the moment (LINK).

I checked the provided subtitles and corrected it to stay word by word at GOUT.

I will even correct the grammar to get rid of 2006 'Rechtschreibreform' (new german grammar)!

If this is of interest for you (I don't know, maybe for hearing impaired people) just tell me.

What you mean is "spelling" or "orthography" (= Rechtschreibung)... "grammar" (= Grammatik) didn't change with the Rechtschreibereform ;)

But I'm still wary about literal subtitles... usually subtitles are shorter than what's said for a good reason (so that you can read them in time). Still it might make an interesting addition and can be called "dubtitles".

Thanks for correcting me ^^

Apropos orthography. Can you maybe provide me the original text of the starting crawl? Maybe for all 3 parts? Would be great!

You may be right and I really considered this too but I would miss it and thought about giving people the opportunity to have 1:1 subtitles. The original version sync is a great piece of artwork which should not be mutilated.

In most parts the changes are very small like (original - new):

'Aber sie soll getötet werden!' compared to 'Aber sie werden sie töten!'

A even better example:

'Ich weiß nicht. Ich kann mir ziemlich viel vorstellen.' to
'Na, ich kann mir ne ziemliche Menge vorstellen.'

Other things were even missing without any good reason like: 'Schließt die Panzertüren!' which I find essential for this scene and is really not hard to read...

Or things like 'Kaiser' which is used originally instead of 'Imperator' the same with 'Rasender Falke'.

That is a MUST in my eyes even for the subtitles - don't you agree?

Your idea with 'dubtitles' is great ^^.
