Well I got ahold of Jedi again and, while the subs aren't nearly as hilarious or messed up as Backstroke, they're still quite amusing. Thread is here.

So... any progress on this project? This would definitely be my preferred way to watch Sith in the future :)

Hey that's great I'm going to check it out, if I can figure out how this sub program works.

It's clearly much more limited. I'm looking at the You Tube Channel; almost 67,000 total views. Scene 1, which was blocked today, had almost 11,000 views. On the Vimeo page, Scene 24, which has the DO NOT WANT part everyone seemed to be waiting for with baited breath, has a whopping 115 total views, and one comment. So it's obviously not the same.

I don't understand why this is a problem.

It's not a problem that no one watches it; I don't have to bother with Vimeo, either, really.

OK I've recreated the playlist. Scene 12 is gone, did not have an old one. The old ones are laggy but it won't let me upload anything so this is as good as it's going to get.

So is it on youtube or vimeo?  And is it in any complete form?  If I can at least get ahold of the entire audio, I can remux it with one of the blu-ray 720p MKV rips.

I don't want to wander too far off topic, but I'm just curious, Gathers... where did you obtain the copy from which you made all the individual clips you've been posting on YouTube?  From your responses in this thread, it seems as if you weren't involved in the production of this dub at all, so I was wondering where/how you came by it.  It's an awesome find.

And to CP3S, I'm with Gathers here-- any movie, especially a LOTR film, that has these kinds of subtitles would be hilarious!  I wish you still had them...

Monroville-- excuse my lack of knowledge with this stuff, but I had a suggestion.  I used JDownloader to grab both the audio (which JDownloader converted into MP3 files) and video (as MP4's) of all 25 parts of the dub that ThirdGathers has posted on YouTube.

If all you need is the audio, would it be feasible to download each individual clip's audio track, then splice them all together to make one complete track?  If this produces the kind of audio track you'd need to mux it with a good copy of the movie, we'd have a true masterpiece.

Again, forgive me if this is a stupid idea... I'm just adding what little I know to the discussion.

That is completely possible.  It will take some tweaking, as I believe the YouTube clips contain some overlap... but that can be taken care of with even a basic editing program.  It will just be a matter of figuring out how to work said editing program and putting it all together.

If you have all the clips, you can upload them on Mediashare if you like. The MP4s would be preferable, as it will help to have the video to track audio qeues and the like.

...or TheThirdGathers could just upload the unaltered audio somewhere for us...

If Katharsys has the entire audio, I'll see what I can do to edit it with a 720p MKV video of EPISODE 3.

So would you prefer I get you the MP3 audio, or just the MP4 video files?  I've never used Mediafire before, but I'll look into it and see if I can get the needed files uploaded and post the links.

And just to be sure... ThirdGathers, you're cool with this, right?

Cool beans!  Thanx as well, Satanika.  Checking out the PB version to see how well it synchs up.

Hey cool I was meaning to do this sometime thanks! The 8gb file just plays the regular movie with regular english subs, but hey as long as it works for everyone else.

The one Lazer posted on TPB was an .mkv file, so if you are able to make an actual dvd out of this, let me know, Monroville.

I can confirm that the 8gb file is properly timed with the dub and works fine.

Katharsys: you may be able to use Nero DVD burner to create a DVD-R... I have Nero, so I'll see what I can do with it.  You may also be able to use ImgBurn as well (though the issue then would be: would it just transfer a MKV onto the DVD-R, as most DVD players do not recognize MKV files unfortunately).

Still, to see that "Do Not Wannnnnnnn(ooooo)!" scene in 720p is just too much. :)  I will definitely be subjecting this to my friends later this week.

I would like to translate the Backstroke subs to Portuguese. How can I do that, using software or online translators?

@TheThirdGathers

I was wondering if you had any background information on the making of the dubbed Backstroke of the West.

I've been amazed by the quality of the acting and production and it would be great to have more info on the talent involved.

Agreed. I'm sure all of us would love to know how this came to be. The voice acting in general is top-notch, and almost all the characters sound nearly identical to the real thing. (With the obvious exceptions of Palpatine, who is different but appropriate in an odd cartoon villain sort of way in my opinion, and the truly bizarre 12-year-old gender confused Yoda :)

I still wish Yoda and the Emperor sounded more like their original selves (and will play with adding an alternative audio track, if I can get Red Letter Media to respond)... but that "Do Not Want!" is fantastic!  I like how you blended it in with the original "Noooo!" too.

Seriously? Mike and... the other guy from RedLetterMedia? OMG, I would love to see this version! Mr. Plinkett is the best fan-Emperor voice I know.

Huh. Lucas sells it all to Disney, and at the same time the last Backstroke video blocked on You Tube. Coincidence?

That's you tube for you. Just put the whole thing up on vimeo. More people are going there these days.

Are you any closer to a DVD of this?

You've gotta keep the "old lady yoda." Just release the whole thing as an MP3 or OGG that you can synch with the video of the actual DVD and I'm happy.
