"Two fighters against a Stardestroyer?"
Any chance this line will be re-dubbed for Revisited? The actors reading is so casual and monotone he actually sounds bored instead of worried. I've tried it with my own voice giving the line a bit of a sarcastic chuckle (matches his facial expression) and I think it really works well.

Just need to add Ric Olie in the background saying "You catch on pretty quick" afterwards and it's fixed.
But seriously, I think it's fine as it is. It reminds me that this is just an expensive B-movie :)
He's not the same pilot that says the really awkward "Copy... gold... leader" in ROTJ, is he?

I'd be all for this, as it's always bothered me how flat his delivery is. It would be much better if there was a tone of mocking disbelief, preferably still imitating the guy's voice, just with a different tone. I doubt many would be ok with it though as Revisited has a more "purist" following than most edits. I think a good impersonator would be able to make it seamless without upsetting too many people.
Alternatively, a sharp exhale of exasperation could be added slightly before he utters the words. :-)

I've never had a problem with that line it sounds natural to me.
Not like the A-Wing pilot in the Death Star tunnels in Jedi, who sounds like he is reading lines waved in front of his face for the price of a cup of tea.

Same here. Thinking about it, that goes for all the Rebel pilot lines throughout the whole OT.
It's the way the lines are delivered by the Naboo pilots in TPM I think are so wooden & corny. Responding to an order with word "Roger" has always sounded too 'our' universe too me. Which doesn't mean I have anything against the name Roger ;)

That's exactly what I'm going for. It's an easy fix, so I can do it myself if it's unchanged in Revisited (like the exploding AT-AT). I can understand if Ady doesn't wanna change it. Different strokes and all that.

Personally, I would love to see that line re-dubbed. It always destroys my suspension of disbelief.

I'm surprised so many people dislike the line delivery. I agree it's not exactly Academy-award-winning material, but I always felt it was delivered in a sarcastic, slightly incredulous way that was very fitting given the circumstances.

By the way, that is the only appearance of Hobbie in the final film. You hear Luke call to him several times over the com, but we never see him respond. "Hobbie, you still with me?" External shot. It's the same pilot you see crash into Veers' walker in the deleted scene. Perhaps his other lines were horrible, and that's why we never see him in the cockpit. EDIT: He was another one of those dubbed Brits, so we can't blame the actor ;)
Just thought I'd mention it as an FYI, since no one mentioned it and now I wonder if few knew it.

Originally I was against the idea of dubbing the actor cause I am not in favor of dubs for the sake of dubbing (it should only be applied in post IF necessary). However, since he is dubbed already, then hell, may as well do it right!

I don't ever remember thinking "Empire needs changes". Fixes, sure. Like the light sabers... but changes? This is turning ridiculous.

I agree. I'm all for fixes as well, but when it comes to un-warranted changes when there is nothing that needs fixing is ridiculous.
This reminds me of the Leia line "look stardestroyers" that a few people requested to be changed a while back because they said it wasn't delivered well enough. While Ady wasn' totally against changing it, he ultimately decided not to because of lack of resource material.
I highly doubt he changes Hobbies line . It would be stupid to change that line just because a few people thought it wasn't delivered well enough. I never thought that line was delivered bad at all.

We've cited our reason for thinking it could do with a change, so that makes it warranted to those that agree. Same goes for your assertion that nothing needs fixing - again, we've justified why we think that it does :-)
It's a moot point though. I can live with it the way it is. Have done my whole life. What ultimately matters is what Ady thinks of it as this is his baby afterall.

I mean this in a totally non-offensive way, but I think too many people get caught up in thinking this project is a preservation as opposed to what the special editions should have been - enhancements that improve the quality of the material and help add to the impact of the film without detracting from it.
This lackluster line is a nice example of the sort of thing a special edition CAN touch up on when every detail is analyzed and perfected.

I agree that if the line's delivery is a problem it should be changed, I just don't think the line is a problem.
Unlike the fore-mentioned pilot in ROTJ who sounds like he is reading his lines with prompting from phonetic photo cue cards.
the ESB guy sounds natural, like the sort of voice a young volunteer rebel pilot would ask that question in.

There's another way to look at some of these perceived problems.
In "All Our Variant Futures" in the supplementary material for Blade Runner:Final Cut, Ridley Scott discussed the debates they had on how many of the mistakes in the film they should fix and whether they should leave some of them alone or at least not fix them as much as they could have. He called them "beloved errors" - things they knew were mistakes but people were so used to them being there that the real mistake would be fixing them.
Maybe these couple of bad line deliveries fall into that category.

Funny, I've never had a problem with that line, but my view was always that it was a somewhat incredulous and disapointed tone, while trying to keep the response professional. I figure he'd wanted to stick around inside the DS and defend the Falcon, or perhaps just didn't like the idea of being bait for TIE fighters...
Anyway, back to ESB - I also thought the line about Star Destroyers was fine.
They told me they’d fixed it!

While things are a little quiet on the Revisited front at the moment due to the break while i move house, i'd like everyone to throw some support behind some of those that have really helped in promoting Revisited and have been very supportive. So first off......
Stephen Stanton (captain Tarkin himself). Let's get his page to at least 3000 likes before the end of next week. If you all help to reach this goal then i will post a brand new completed image from ESB:R. If you manage to get that total to more than 4000, then i will post 2 new images. So, come on everyone, lets show our support and thanks.

I thought it sounded like he was concentrating hard, and considering the fancy flying they were having to do, it makes total sense. No problem with the line delivery whatsoever, quite the opposite.
