Aalenfae's PREQUEL TRILOGY (Heavily delayed - computer exploded) — Page 15

Haha, that's an idea. I was considering re-working all of the sound there anyways, but I just love the sounds the way they are in the original.

"I see it this is going to be easy” personally I would nix that Obi1’s line here, and have him get straight to business

Yeah, it might be better to cut straight to Obi-Wan radioing Oddball.
The "this is going to be easy" line kind of ruins the mood.

Actually, I like it. It adds some lighthearted fun that the Prequels lacked. And it's not like it undercuts the mood to the point where it becomes ridiculous

Hmmm, I will try it both ways and see what works better.
Thanks for the input!

Alright, after a bit of a break, I'm finally back to editing. Here's what I'm currently up to these days

Great example of good selective attention sound design! You treated the scenes like a professional.

More people should take inspiration from you from now on!

Haha, I think you give me a little too much credit, Angel.
But thank you! I try my hardest!

Here's a little preview of an idea I'm trying out:

That is awesome, please continue with that idea.

Wow.  I love it.

 Spoiler free for the ST

Thanks for the encouragement.
I'm going to try my best to make this idea work. I think it helps bridge the design gap between the two trilogies at least a LITTLE bit. And every bit helps.
Anakin's will be grey - hinting at the TIE fighters to come.
Obi-Wan's will still be red - hinting at the Alliance colors to come.

The Empire likes to be colour free (sometimes a hint of blue) but the good guys have always had a splash of colour about them.

I personally think it would make more sense to keep the colour but make Anakin's ship the same colour as Kenobi's as they both seem to be in the same squadron.

The yellow is only there to remind us of TPM (and some of us would prefer to forget).

I like the grey for the same reasoning as aalenfae's.  The Republic is no longer so good, and Anakin is no longer so good either.  It's all just foreshadowing, rather than clinging to the past.  Personally I like the choice.

Yup, this makes the most sense.

Here's what it looks like red.
I see the point of doing this, and it's definitely feeling a little better, but I'm really attached to the grey. Though I'll probably pump a little more color into it, like a slight cyan.

Author

would it be plausable to replace the grey with more of a cream or white like the xwings and the star destroyers had? there was very little gun metal in the OT, everything did look quite plastic.

Author
Time

You, sir, are a genius. I think this looks much better. (That's as light as I can make it without doing ridiculous masking)

At the risk of initiating another Tie Fighter colour debate, why not recolour those panels the same blue as the Ties are in ESB? Would be a nice nod to this.

Having said that, I love the last one with the light grey/cream panels!

Author
Time

Haha, yeah, I actually just tried blue, and it looked kind of... silly, I think.
The light grey panels look much better than blue ones.

:D

Yeah, I can totally understand making Anakin seem hip and roguish by painting his fighter an obnoxious color, but I'd rather hint at an Imperial future a little.

 (Edited)

You could leave the roundish logos behind the cockpit coloured in maybe? Like as a squadron marking e.g. red group. Also purely for imagery purposes so that while it's all grey, all the colour (goodness, humanity) hasn't been sucked out of them yet.

Even if you don't read into it like that, it works for me on a purely aesthetic level. It adds variety and will look prettier.

Author
Time

Yeah, good point. I'll definitely try to keep the logos colored in. Otherwise, it might look like I just made it black and white, which might stand out too much.

Here's just an idea I had. Any thoughts?
