I don't think I'd ever given the ROTS soundtrack a listenthrough until now. I'm listening to the extended edition someone on the internet put together, which is all well and good (beyond the odd stray sound effect they couldn't remove)...
But does anyone know why the End Credits feature "The Throne Room"? It makes no sense.
Because the movie is over and it's okay to go to the bathroom now?
Yeah, but the End Credits always have themes from the movie.
The "Return of the Sith Orchestral Suite" included in this particular seems much more in keeping with how Star Wars end credits work.
Oh yeah, I thought that was weird too. It's not in the credits of the actual movie, only the cd. The other 5 soundtracks don't have anything like that. (Maybe Lucas was stockpiling music for the re-revamped ending of JEDI 2017 edition.) I guess it was probably just a little extra flourish/sign-off by Williams since it was the last movie.

Wait, what are the actual film's credits?
I believe the same as the cd but without that entire section with the old throne room music from the first movie. (Which is weird since it's not like the credits would have gotten a lot shorter at the last minute).
I've always taken the Throne Room's inclusion as evidence that the real order of viewing is 4-5-6-1-2-3.

i liked the throne room section - i wish the end-credits were just like the OST. Was like a grand send-off.
i had this crazy idea that the end credits for ROTS should contain a compilation of all the great themes of the whole saga and instead of playing over a star-field, they should have footage of all the wrap-parties in the background from all 6 movies. Kinda like in the 80s whenever a series finale aired, they would bring out the actors for a curtain call and show the party afterwards. At least do it for the premiere showing of ROTS at that Manns theatre.
think of how hilarious it would have been to see that footage of fisher and ford from 1977 - still in costume - sharing a joint!! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Only because it's a fan-made extended edition. The one-disc official release is obviously lacking a lot of the music, so someone did their best to get as much of the rest of the music out of the movie as they could. Sometimes effects just can't be helped. The odd spaceship engine and such.

it was in that making of ROTS book. he said a lot of stupid annoying stuff in that book - but this one I may have not quite correct after further consultation...hmm.

So im told that below that paragraph is a picture of lucas holding the microphone - maybe thats where I got the idea he actually said this to the crew during the wrap party. its possible he was explaining just to the author his feelings. The quote is still dubious to me becuase lucas is trying to rationalize his notorious aloofness and disregard for anyone who isnt a sycophant. but there is still a chance he hadn't completely abandoned even basic social grace.

anyways, i like my idea of at least having the closing credits of episode III play against a background of footage from all the wrap parties. and then have it as a DVD easter egg.
