I thought I posted these before, but I don't see those around. Anyways, I'm bumping the thread to get some action on the font scene again.

I don't know about the end credits yet (specifically),,,

But this was used in the early ads and logos, particularly the first trailer for Star Wars:

Infact, when Suzy Rice was designing the now familiar Star Wars logo, she based it on the Helvetica Black font.

Oh, and here's what Times New Roman looks like. It is close to the Jedi logo, but not quite.

Prolly was original Times like you could get on a Mac.

I like Helvetica so much better than Arial that I always keep the Mac font around.

While its up here...

I keep asking and keep forgetting, what is the font used on the vintage figure card backs?  I had it for a while, but poof, it was gone.

Sith Prophecy is more or less the font from Vader's chestbox. I made it: erikstormtrooper.com/sithprophecy.htm

I think A New Hope is yet another movie title font. I'm not sure about Lucas Font.

Following on from some talk in the covers thread, can anyone identify the font used for the CBS FOX part of this logo?

I could fiddle about with Impact (ugh) to come up with something similar, but wondered if anyone knew more precisely what it was...

Your instincts serve you well.

It's Impact but the F has been forced justified to make fit under the C which is why it's so much broader and the bars are longer (possibly the same is true to a lesser extent with the X).

To transpose the idea you would need to get the top letter set right, position the bottom middle letter in so it's right under the upper middle letter and manually justify the end letters to get that boxed in look.

Whoever did it was a bit of hack if you compare it to classic CBS and Fox idents it looks like someone went wild with Letroset in a photocopier.

Sorry about bumping this but could anyone share the old Times Roman font family? I can't find it anywhere, I'd need it on my ROTJ cover.

Does anybody know what the font is (or a good approximation of it) for the 'Return of the Jedi' text in the original ROTJ logo?

(I now see that Times New Roman has been cited.  If anybody has a better suggestion, please share it.)
