Removing a TV "bug" from the corner?

Anyone have any good advice on removing a "bug" from the corner of a broadcast?

I have a documentary that was released on DVD but never in HD. I have the TV broadcast with a bug (in HD) and I'd love to replace that bug with the information from the DVD. Is it worth it? Possible? Too much work?

Thoughts?

Could you not stack up the two sources, then create a mask of the bug and let it show through the HD to the DVD? The bug shouldn't move, but it would probably just make a bug-shaped low-res area which might be more distracting than the bug itself.

Is it a semi-transparent logo? I developed an AviSynth script for the Rad source that was fairly successful:

Solid logos are more difficult, but if you have a logo-less DVD, and it matches up frame-for-frame with the HD source, then you should be able to upscale that portion and overlay it over the logo.

It's the Biography channel. The Jaws special is what I was hoping to do. However, I'm wondering if it will be on the eventual Blu-ray.
