Alright, I sent out the invite again.  Let me know if you experience any difficulties.  After a few folks get registered, I will provide the url to all.  That way, everyone will be able to keep up on the discussion, but only the actual editors will be able to comment.  When someone else seems to have an essential skill in the actual editing of the film, you can request to become a member, and we'll see about making it so.  I know this sounds elite and exclusive, but the point is to keep the actual editing focused.  We don't want to flood this little corner of the world with tons of comments about the story.  This is purely a technical forum.  We can still carry on those discussions here, and they will read it.  If they seem like they are ignoring us, I'll bring it to their attention there.  I think it will be a nice balance.

@Ronster, I just want to say that you are very right.  We can't debate the story forever.  I had a plan to hold three votes, perfect the script based on those votes, have the majority approve that perfected script, and let the editors follow it as closely as possible in the other thread.

Gosh, that scifi3d.com site really has given me a great deal more hope than I had before about the possibilities of this edit.

Well, I have much to learn.
Must have just downloaded an unlucky one, haha.

Alright, I downloaded the N1 Starfighter from Sci-Fi 3D and re-textured it.
I also remodeled the engines to make them more run-down, removed some panels on the top, and added internal greeblies.
Thoughts? Should we have the N1 make an appearance?

Personally I'm for it.  I don't think it should play an extremely prominent role, but including it as one or two extra ships they managed to pull together would seem quite interesting to me, as well as fitting for the Rebels who just take whatever they can get their hands on.

Looking good aalenfae, be nice to see her fly again

It'd probably actually be COOLER if no attention was drawn to it. Just put it in the background or something in a matter-of-fact kind of way.

I also wouldn't mind seeing some beaten-up ARC-170 fighters in the mix, but I can't get my hands on a 3D model of one.

I supposed I don't mind extra ships in the background, but I still like the idea of the rebels having dedicated wings of ships, like Gold group, Red group, etc.  These need to be their main forces.

That phantom menace ship looks a lot better with the new texturing, but I'd rather not have the reminder of the prequels.

Some X-wings with green markings and those Y-wings from the clone wars (with their panels intact

I'm still in favor of the BTL-B Y-wing as a component of the Y-wing squadron, even if only used in small amounts.

Yes, I would almost say these are a must, haha. Just because they look so rad.

Maybe beat them up a little bit, though. Take off SOME of their panels, but not all.

And while we're on the topic, why not some of these?

Is that the Z-95 Headhunter?  It seems logical for me as well.  All new starfighters would seem to make most sense if they were cameos of course rather than the main force, but still I think they'd make for an interesting fleet, implying the Rebels are growing, but still are ultimately a ragtag force.

That's the Z-95 as depicted in the Clone Wars.
It's a little different than the traditional EU look of the fighter, but cool nonetheless.

Yeah, cameos make the most sense. It might seem cheesy if too much attention is drawn to any added ships.

Hey guys, I didn't read all 29 pages, so I'm not very well informed about this idea but I just wanted to say that if you wanted some of my despecializations (like the restored original Sarlacc, which I believe to be much more effective and threatening than the 97 CGI beak) you're welcome to use them :-)

We really do appreciate it, Harmy :)  I haven't commented on your thread before, but I do appreciate the work you do :)

That looks awesome-sauce. Probably could be less shiny though, but that's just nit-picking.

Depends... Will Ric Olie be flying it in a little cameo?

Would he get to fly by and tell us what we need to know is on the screen?

Would he tell the other pilots to catch on pretty quick?

These are questions that need to be answered.

Honestly, half of me thinks that it would be flippin' awesome to include a little Ric cameo (with even less hair of course)!

Maybe we can put it to a vote! Haha
Does anybody have Ralph Brown's phone number? :) Maybe he'd like to come in and shoot a short cockpit scene.

My respect for Ric Olie has risen dramatically after watching him save the day countless times in The Ridiculous Menace.
Seriously, what would the heroes do if Ric Olie wasn't there to tell them what just happened?

But as for the N1, yeah, it could stand to be less shiny. I did tone the chrome down significantly, but I didn't have the heart to take it out altogether.
If I had a better renderer, I'd try to make the chrome faded, smudgy, and rusted. But it'll just look fake if I try.

I really like what you have done and the paint job is really good great work but to perfect it I think the exposed engines need a rusied matt effect, along with the shine gone of the engine nose cones, it should be unshiny and absorb more light not reflect... The Red can be darker slightly and more mottled or keep what you have and add a layer of darker red spray.

The other thing is there is lack of definition down it's sides it could do with some rivets running parralell along it's body line with occasional vertical lines of rivets behind the cockpit. Hard to explain but like the bladed edge of it's body after the wing does not look solid enough

Not quite a heap of junk yet... I'd like to see one of these even smash into the shield of DSII... There is cockpit shots in Phantom Menace so If that were a good idea then a cockpit shot showing another rebel ship hit the shield and a comms line "Pull up!" followed by one of these blowing up....

Would not mind to see another later they look much better when they are not yellow :)

Thinking about the DSII shield would it look good as a honeycombe hexagonal sphere surrounding DSII appearing only when Impact occurs. like it shows a an area of hexagonal lines see through wall on impact in a yellow orange neon. Like a Bee hive?

Well awesome. now add 5 times detail for close up especialy in engines.

Remove any indication of cuvve. add pipes and all kinds of machinery.

Textures must be at least 2048x2048

Remove all the shinny surfaces and add grebbles and connections.

remove also the pin points behind the engine.

it will be perfect.

YES IT SHOULD. But seriously stuff like this (if done subtly) would be awesome. And I wouldn't be against a Ric Olie cameo, but only if it was done well and if Ric died.

Also, a major yes to different colored X-Wings. Really things like this is what is needed to show that this Rebel force is a step up from ANH. Anything thing that can be done to show that s**t just got real should be done. But not overdone.
