SW; it's no longer a movie, it's a drug.

No, drugs actually make people feel good.

SW is more like..church.

Drugs are also addictive as well. Lucas knows 95% of SW fans will buy whatever they produce because their fanbase is hooked. They can screw with the fans all they want and get no media attention, they can practically buy good reviews for their shitty products now.

This was pretty hysterical.

Now that I think of it, the church argument makes sense if we are dealing with orthodoxy in the SW franchise. Except that the OOT that people grew up on for 20 years is now being stamped as heretical and the PTSE with horrible sound and picture is the new doctrine for the current incarnation of the franchise. Even the terrible BD artwork makes sense now.

So the Old Testament is the UOT, the New Testament is the Special Edition, Lucas is the Messiah, and the Prequels are the Book of Mormon?

Of course I do, sir. I'm from the internet.

I haven't posted here in a few months, but I was just watching the Blu-rays as a loaner from my co-worker, and happened to put it on as background as I was re-assembling my sound set-up....

...and I looked up during the re-done Mos Eisely scene. My God. I looks so atrocious in 1080p. Maybe I didn't notice it before, but when the ronto bronto-burger (or whateverthefuckitscalled CG dino it's called) jumps up, the CG mattes in the background there are totally static. It literally looks like George has re-CG'd standees. Standee jawas, standee dewback...there's a man on the right not even moving. It's probably just leftover CG from the original '97 SE, and it's never been recomposited or anything. Oh, but George remembered to add the CG rocks. GREAT.

Sorry if this has already been violently addressed. I feel so embarrassed for this release. I really am. Ugly boxes, ugly presentation....and I really think he secretly hates the early movies. Thank fuck I never bought this fucking crap.

I prefer to think of the UOT as the Holy Bible:

Star Wars is the Old Testament.

Empire is the four gospels of The New Testament.

Return is all the other writings, like St. Paul, etc - not as relevant as the rest of the Bible, and in some cases, rather strays from the original intent, but is still part of the overall book.

The prequels and special editions are Apocrypha.

Well, the OOT is being treated like Apocrypha (or worse) by the church leaders and the Emperor (Lucas).  Once a vibrant part of the faith, now it's viewed as heresy.  Maybe the OOT can hang out with the Gospel of Thomas at the Apocrypha Club.

That’s impossible, even for a computer.

Are the deleted scenes (both prequel and OT) presented in 1080p or something else?  I'm planning to re-do my edits in HD if the source material is up-to-snuff.

I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

At least some of the OT deleted scenes are in 1080p but some are upscaled from DVD resolution. Check my posts in this thread.

and none of the prequels deleted scenes are HD, IIRC what I read (I did not buy this box and thank god no one bought it to me for Xmas)

Prequels deleted scenes are all 480p and work in progress.

Some so called deleted scenes are also 100% animatics.

Maybe it's something to do with the fact the DVD extras were not ported over?

Aside from the deleted scenes, (which Lucasfilm had been holding back since 1993!) I was underwhelmed by the rest of it.

If it takes them 18 years to release the deleted scenes, how long will it take to get the OOT in anamorphic widescreen?

Google's "Search by image" option can answer this type of question. (It's the cover of Deadly Avenger - The Illicit EP).

Interesting. The trooper's topless ladyfriend has a certain 70's look to her though. It reminded of those infamous Dalek photos. ;)
