I have tried moving the file from my pc to my 2TB hard drive but it keeps saying the file is too big. How can this be when the file is only approx. 8gb? How do I get it to play on my ps3???   :(

Some filesystems (i.e. FAT, used frequently for external media for compatibility purposes), have a maximum filesize they can accept.  Try reformatting the drive to anything other than FAT.

EDIT: yes, but that would probably break compatibility with the PS3.  Just burn it to DVD and be done with it.

Unfortunately if I try to burn to disc I will lose the HD quality. I was hoping to take the file, as is, and move it either to the ps3 to watch or save it to my HD to watch on the ps3 anytime I choose. I have been reading some places that I need to convert it from a m2ts file to something else. Anyone that can help that would be great! Thanks.

You can burn it as an AVCHD onto a dual layer DVD and it will be full quality.

Download 'DGavcIndex' (no need to install) and demux the video and audio tracks you require, then download 'MKVtoolnix' and install. Using the 'MKVmerge' tool within toolnix you can merge the video and your choice of audio tracks into a MKV file

Actually, M2TS should be better compatible with PS3 than MKV. You could use TS Muxer to split the file in two and thus be able to copy it to your HDD.

If it is just the file size limitations of FAT, you could always format the hard drive to NTSC. You should have no problem then; I have formatted some of my smaller flash drives to NTSC so I can load larger files on them.

You must mean NTFS.

I don't see how you could format your HDD to NTSC, since it stands for National Television System Committee and is a video format ;-)

But you probably mean NTFS :-) The thing is that some standalone players aren't compatible with NTFS, though I don't know about PS3.

EDIT: You_Too beat me to it...

Aargh! Yes, I meant NTFS. That's what you get for posting before you are fully awake! :-)

Apparently, PS3 is backwards enough that they ONLY recognize FAT32. I guess that means you have to split the file to put it on your hard drive, or have Troyig88 or myself mail you a copy of the trilogy on DL DVDs.

Another quick question Harmy are you going to upload an album of changes for DE V2.0 like you did with DE V1.0?

Or you can DL ImgBurn (it's free) and burn it yourself.

I found that ImgBurn gives errors with my setup/discs, but I was able to use BurnAware to burn mine.

I am using Memorex discs because they are sold locally. I know Verbatim discs would probably work with ImgBurn and last longer, but for my current situation, this worked for me.

Hi guys. Thanks very much for all your help/ideas. Unfortunately my writer is very basic and won't do dual layer discs. If someone could mail me the HD version(s) on a disc I would be most grateful. Failing that I will just try and use the TS muxer method and hope that sorts it out. Thanks again guys. ;)

BigP, when you mentioned that the "media server" function wasn't allowing you to watch SW Desp. on the PS3, were you referring to such programs as "PS3 Media Server" or "TVersity"?

If you have a router, not only should you be able  to use either of those programs to stream the video to the PS3, but you can also copy it over to the PS3's hard drive.

On the other hand, if the problem is indeed in the file's format (which I doubt is the case), then a program like "Handbrake" can convert the file into something the PS3 can recognize.

Here's a shot I really struggled with when making v1.0.

I tried several times from scratch and I just couldn't get it right. Well, I believe I finally got it :-)

http://youtu.be/Bu6ybGQFEv0?hd=1

The Falcon no longer jerks halfway thorough the shot and doesn't become 2D when it gets further away.

I also improved the tracking on the matte that covers the SE Falcon.

EDIT:

Here's a high quality version:

Really? No pats on the back? No youdamans? Messa has a  sad :-(

;-) Or did I not mention how difficult that shot was? ;-)

Well, anyway, I decided to change the approach to the cantina matte shot. The Dewback actually moves a little in the original (I checked in other sources, it's not one of those weird GOUT things where things move which shouldn't). So I recreated the matte from an SE snapshot and deleted the CG Dewback and superimposed the GOUT Dewback on top of the matte in movement.

This also required tracking the GOUT gate weave and applying it to the HD matte, so that the Dewback doesn't shake independently. But this should be quite acurate to the original appearance of the shot, which apparently had more gate weave than the other shots (quite possibly on purpose) because it has quite a lot of it even in DJ's stabilized footage.

I'll post the video as soon as it's uploaded.

I always look forward to your videos, Harmy! :)

For some reason, the file has been temporarily unavailable for me all day...

Oh yea, the Falcon does a little handbrake drifting there, well, NOT anymore! Sweet!!

Its the little things that 90% of normal viewers didn't notice originally being changed & 90% of the ones who saw the restoration didn't notice that it didn't look 100%. ;-)

The cantina looks great as well!
