Wow, small world!  You're TheRescorer/Fishfilminc, aren't you?  I'm ThePenitentMan1/Walkbach!

These videos are great!  Seriously, where do you get all this music?

The franchises I get nerdy about are so obscure that not even most nerds know about them.

Some of this was not released on the OST, but in video games, for instance, the original  version of the "Gas Leak" scene was on the Ultimate edition, but it was the film edit, with tracking and such, but certain video games had the music that would fit where the tracking was.

It's be a VERY long time since I've watched any of the prequels, but I don't remember finding anything wrong with the score while watching TPM. It was probably the best thing about the movie, actually. I do, however, remember while watching ATOC in the theater for the first time, thinking to myself, "what the $%@$% did they do to the music?" It is a really obvious hack job & sounds terrible. ROTS was not much better.

That being said, of course there's going to be cuts/edits to the score for the final film. And sometimes it's the right choice. I'm sure many of you have seen the ESB duel with original music restored on youtube, but just in case, here's a link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brVI-Hy5Y2o

I think it works MUCH better with most of the music cut like it was in the final film. It makes the duel more gripping and emotionally tense/powerful over all with just the right bits of music to really emphasize that feeling at just the right times. The version with the restored music (with all due respect to John Williams) just feels much less powerful as a whole.

Just curious, have you watched the video I linked to with the original music?

Yeah, I watched the video(s) for the end battles of TPM and also the introduction of JarJar. They were both interesting, but like I said, I don't recall the final (theatrical) cut of the film having jarring music edits. I'd have to go back & watch the original movie again to be able to tell what any of the significant differences actually were in the music, it's been so long...

The only distinct change I noticed was the Darth Maul reveal, and honestly, I like the way the music was edited in the final cut better than the "restored" version. I'm just talking about that specific moment where the doors open & he & the Jedi begin fighting.

That one was an insert that was planned (the DOTF variation)

I always knew there was something about the scores for TPM and AOTC that felt a little off.  I will say that the ROTS score was amazing though.

And even that had some stuff tinkered (AOTC's finale was different: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjkjY18n500&feature=player_embedded)

It's pretty interesting but I think the Imperial March version works better IMO.  Where did that come from BTW?

It's a synth mockup, sometimes the recording is not available, but the sheet music is.

Oh, yeah, here is an alternate end credits for TPM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK3J-HjdGgc

That sounds an awful lot like the A New Hope or Return of the Jedi end credits.

thats because it kinda is..... sort of like how "Superstructure Chase" is like "Tie Fighter Attack" and "Battle of Yavin".......its a rerecording/arrangement

An Old blog that the author of somehow had contact with people who worked on the soundtracks.  Like the Anthology and RCA releases.

This before the guy who wrote it took it down.

Not sure entirely but the story is they found the recordings after the rushed mix for jedi special edition was finished sitting under some old boxes in the lucasfilm archives.

They probably found it while making the expanded Indy soundtrack box.

I think I still prefer it over the version that was actually used in the final cut of TPM, though... something about it never sounded quite right to me.
