It's a shame the audio is so rough in the sandstorm scene. The images are really iconic, the tone is more in line with the events of Empire, what with Luke's solemn attitude, and it's great to see Han reunited with the Falcon.

Though it seems some of the dialogue has either been removed or was never shot. Han doesn't appear to make his famous "wide-awake nothing" declaration about the experience of being frozen in carbon and Lando doesn't explain himself to Han at all.

I don't remember much about it, but could the radio drama be useful at all in replacing Luke's dialogue?

Haven't listened to the radio drama in quite a while, but it's an interesting idea - I certainly like this scene a heck of a lot more than the goodbye with Luke already in his X-Wing that's currently in the film.

Ah, the one scene from the Prequels that I've been waiting an eternity for.... and I can't f***ing use it because of it's in utter crap quality.... go to hell, Lucas, just go to hell and take your BD set with you. :/

Wow, she was the only decent actor in the prequels.

Bravo.

Agreed! And she's old enough to have actually been in the original Star Wars movies...

Shame that it can't be put in any edits. It does seem like a good scene.

Seriously, that scene is more interesting than all three of the prequels combined.

Like the library scene...shame it was cut. I think it was in the novelization or something.

Jerjerrod's Conflict and Vader's Arrival/Reaching out to Luke are definitely my favorite deleted scenes in the set. I'd love to see them reinserted back in as much as possible, maybe in a "more serious" ROTJ edit.

You teenagers wouldn't know a good actor if I bit you in the ass and then told you what I just did.

Ric.... I catch on pretty quickly when it comes to acting.

Loved Han's urgency in the Bunker raid.

EDIT: The Falcon crew is pretty damn flawless in terms of quality.  Beautifully preserved, and so neat seeing those firing chambers again!

I did like the fact that there were some guards around the bunker... In general, it really seems that they trimmed down the ROTJ climax so it would be nice and simple.

Actually, if all the deleted scenes were added in, it could be a nice departure from the other two films, in terms of having scenes not with the main characters. It could really emphasize the fact that the Endor battle is THE FINAL BATTLE and is much bigger than just our main characters. So much could be happening. The Rebels could be making their last stand and Jerjerrod could be making his decision.

well the only thing I could see being a problem is the crappy chroma keying, the "cutouts" shots could be cropped/zoomed.

Good thing they were deleted!

I wonder if anybody could mix up dialogue from other sources to use in the sandstorm sequence. It sounds next to impossible, but we have some pretty talented people hear. That sandstorm sequence is beautiful, has iconic imagery potential that is lacking in ROTJ.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Granted it's a narrative decision but wait how is that a good deletion...

Something probably could be made. I wasn't thinking of it that way when I watched the scene, but, you're right, it could be iconic imagery. The sandstorm seems much more violent and alien than the one shown in TPM, so it could be interesting to see... It also gives us some good character dynamics.

Now only if there could be some confrontation between Lando and Han... I never liked how quickly Han was friends again with him even though his last memory before being frozen was being betrayed. I suppose you could say Chewbacca explained it, but still.

Perhaps during the barge battle

I suppose you could use the bunker scenes as the inopportune delay which prolongs the space battle, if you were interested in doing an edit which cuts down or removes the Ewoks.

His urgency? "MOVE MOVE MOVE! CHEWIE!" What was the plan for Chewie to want to run off like an excited puppy down the wrong corridors, for Han to have to yell at him like that?

And its incredible they built ALL of these sets and didn't use a frame of them.
