Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!) — Page 252

If you've never watched Spaced, you need to. Now.

I always wondered whether Pegg shared the same opinion on Star Wars as his character in the show. I think with him posting this gif on Twitter (and his other recent comments) the answer is a confirmed "yes".

31 Aug: I'm hearing some rumblings about supposed audio additions to the original trilogy on the Star Wars Blu-Rays. Is this a hoax? Suspect it is.

31 Aug: Wasn't going to buy them anyway. Not even going to watch borrowed copies now. The only thing I'd buy is the original, original three on blu.

31 Aug: Always loved Vader's wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin's ghost. What a fucking shame.

31 Aug: Can't believe it still bothers me. It's like getting upset because a dead relative's corpse has rotted a bit more.

31 Aug: I wonder if George Lucas will ever replace himself with CGI. He should do. He's a muppet.

4 Sep: My final word on the SW Blu-Rays. When they hit the shelves, just say NOOOOOOOOOO!

Ha! Love Simon Pegg's comments on Twitter; I'm glad he's not one of those celebrity Star Wars fans who doesn't care. I'm actually watching Spaced right now on Hulu, and you guys are absolutely right. It's a fantastic show! I haven't laughed this hard in awhile.

Quick question about WookieeGroomer's 1080p. I finally got the first part unpacked, and it seems they replaced the Fox Fanfare and Star Wars Theme from the original with alternate takes or some newer recording of each. This I suppose was done for the HD broadcast only? Because it ain't on my 2006 DVDs. Jus' sayin'.

Meanwhile. I watched Harmy's 'Star Wars' DE again last night. Pure magic, guys - in case people still have not seen it, it's on the spleen, along with the rest of his DE's, d_j's V3, and much more. PM for invites (d_j and definitely walkingdork have also got some)

Watching some of Star Wars on SpikeTV, I noticed that they're showing some clips of the Blu-Ray Special Features. The most recent one I saw was about why they decided to have Leia wear a bikini in ROTJ... I've not been watching long. Has SpikeTV shown any other interesting Special Features?

Simon Pegg Reacts

Maybe a bit of overkill, but I understand the sentiment.

Funny i thought of the same idea the other day thinking of Vaders funeral pyre scene.

<span>"Jedi Rocks" is still there and unchanged.</span>

<span><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Vader's "NO's" have been added. The first sounds like it has been sloppily laid on top of the mix, the second is from ROTS. </span></span>

See, that just freaking pisses me off.... you have Lucas with a sh*t-ton on money to throw at this release, to "improve" it as he "sees fit", yet he can't hire James Earl Jones or even Chad Vader for one damn day to do some new voice work, he just recycles that BS line from ROTS over the audio mix and think's it'll sound perfectly fine when it won't. -_-

They could be both the same "Nooo" from ROTS, and an unused take of the first "no".  At least they sound more like JEJ than the "alert my star destroyer" Ep V line.  I've NEVER thought that was JEJ, and I don't buy Ben Burtt's BS about it being a discarded take from Ep IV

You have to admit though, if it is a discarded take - it was discarded for a reason (cos it's shite!!!)

FWIW, it doesn't sound like JEJ to me either. Maybe one day I'll do a frequency spectrum comparison, but maybe not.

I've never believed it either.  And for the record, I doubt that some of Vader's dialogue from Ep III is JEJ too.   "Where is Padme?  Is she safe, is she alright?" sounds like him, but the following lines about "I?  I couldn't have, she was alive!" sound very un-JEJ to me.  They seem 'thin' and processed just like the "Prepare for my arrival" from ESB.

The June 2005 issue of Starlog magazine talks about how JEJ worked at least one day recording dialogue for ROTS.

Also, someone brought up amazon.com reviews. I have thought for years that their review system is a joke, I think it's ridiculous that they allow reviews of things that are not even out yet, and they lump all releases in the same review as a previous release(s) of the same movies. Reviews should be a well-rounded reviews of the entire set, not just half or less.

Nice to see the Blu Ray set only has two stars on Amazon.com.

Think it'll hurt sales at all?

Reviews should not be allowed until the set is released. Amazon.com needs to overhaul their review system. They've needed to for years.

I couldn't agree with you more, even though some of these changes suck really bad, reviews should NOT be allowed until they are officially released, because you have all these people posting comments that do not even have the Set LOL.

WOW, I am agreeing with Frink again.

I agree.

Me too and while they are at it they should extend that rule to their sister site IMDB.

If the old DVDs are actually going out of print, then not likely, at least not in the long term. People need to get their fix somehow, and not enough of them know about this site, the spleen &c.

Hmm... new Yoda looks to be half past decent, in comparison to that awful TPM puppet. I've always wondered why they just didn't use the original ESB and ROTJ Yoda puppet, which beat any CGI... :P

Are there any changes to AOTC and ROTS on the Blu-Ray?

It looks good because it seems to behave phisycally right in terms of lighting. But still, it doesn't look like the OT puppet when it comes to design. The CGI model has lost the Einstein eyes and eyebrows, don't know if they did this on purpose or by accident. The CGI Yoda has a more concerned sight, more concentrated and attached to reality, while OT aspect was about something different

I always presumed Yoda was supposed to look younger in the trilogy...though at his age, I suppose a lapse of 18 years or so wouldn't be very noticeable.
