Couldn't Fett have been listening in on Han and Leia's conversation and therefore know exactly what they're up to? It might be cool if we could hear Han and Leia still talking to each other when we are inside Fett's ship, over his radio or whatever, so the audience knows he's been spying on them. Dunno where the audio for that could be sourced from though... Maybe deleted scenes? Anyway, then you could leave the hyperspace jump in because we would know that Fett knows Han & co.'s plan and that he is going to meet them there. Also, when we see Fett in his ship, he's messing with controls which could be the "navi-computer" or whatever to jump to light speed.

Yeah, I've gotta vote against the jump.  Nice idea, but it kinda disrupts the pacing a bit, and feels kinda like prequel-y spoon-feeding to me.

Looks good, though.

After discovering about the next series of unnecessary SE additions to the blu-rays, I've decided to cancel my pre-order and donate the amount to this project.

I was only really interested in the deleted scenes anyway.

This is the last time Lucas screws me with another half-arsed attempt to cash in on what was a moment of movie brilliance.

Ady, I'd stay away from the Blu-ray forums if I were you. They might draw too much attention to this project from Lucasfilm, and you certainly don't need that.

If they can't appreciate what you're doing with these projects, too bad for them :)

Cheers

Definitely no to the hyperspace jump. Unnecessary and because it's so quick coupled with the wipe, we barely get a chance to register it. Nice idea though.

I like the hyperspace. But the clip needs more work IMO. Everything goes a bit fast due the end of the clip. Even it matches with the music and the tone.

The Slave cockpit needs some enhancement too

I gotta say slave 1 and the Star Destroyer looked amazing.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

It would make one hell of a menu section jump.

I agree with Bingowing's idea! That would make a fantastic menu clip. It's good to see work on this especially in light of how godawful the Blu-Rays will be. :-D

I don't think the jump prequelfies the movie at all to be perfectly honest. Not only were the scenes involving hyperspace in the prequels pretty quick, they didn't even feature the in-cockpit and zooming away shots that only the original trilogy had.

If I had to put my money down, I'd include it. It's not really that hard to figure out where Han could be going since Boba can tell he's not making a jump to light speed. Not to mention that Boba probably did some research when he took the job and figured out where Han got the Falcon in the first place. After all, he is the best bounty hunter in the galaxy! I also like how it serves as a fresh reminder on how important a functional hyperdrive really is, that even though the Falcon can get to Bespin in good time without one, getting there via hyperspace would have made a grave difference. Even though Adywan said he won't be including it into the cut, the other edits like Slave 1 following the Falcon are much better in my opinion.

Also Ady, thanks for including the rotating star field. That made my day. :)

Hi

i don't have a Facebook account and so far I've had no problem watching Ady's vids there but from the last one I get this message:

Is it a FB glitch, the link actually expired or something on my end?

While the hypershot looks amazing and is really cool - I agree with the sentiments expressed against it's inclusion in the film itself.

When Star Wars debuted in '77 - the hyperspace jump after blasting from Mos Eisley caused the entire theater to bust into spontaneous applause due to how cool that was.  At 16 - I was already blown away from the opening shot, and the jump to lightspeed put me over into euphoria with the rest of the sold-out audience.

When Empire came out - everyone was looking forward to seeing that effect again - and Kersh was wise to take a triumphant moment from the first film and put it as a climax at the end of a middle-act that followed a major downer of the storyline.

I think putting the jump to lightspeed from a cockpit view in the middle of ESB, takes away from that triumphant moment to conclude our favorite episode of the saga.

It looks awesome - but as some suggested - perhaps as a menu item on the DVD.

I find your lack of faith…disturbing

Glad to hear you've decided against the jump Ady.  Well-executed and a neat idea, but the original end of the scene before cutting back to Dagobah works better IMO... it leaves the viewer with the feeling of a hunter stalking its prey.  Besides, I think it would realistically take Fett a while before discovering the Falcon's destination.

Yes, yes... to Bingowings you listen :)

Ady since you added a heatwave to han's face in the torture scene do you think that something can be done there? (mockups were not done by me)

Radical or subtler ofcource. Adapt it to your tastes.

I'd rather have it blue, it fits the tone of the movie, besides when it comes to heating things blue means hotter than red (Sith lightsabres are colder?).I'm all for adding sparks tho.

There is science and there is a shared visual language.

Most people would equate orange with heat and blue with cold so it's a good suggestion from here but as always it's Adywan's choice.

Apparently those aren't mockups, they're shots from the Blu-ray, according to MF.com.

Yes indeed they are, and it is interesting that it seems that the reflections on 3PO's parts of the furnace are still blue

When you say "interesting" you mean, "predictable", right? Attention to continuity issue creating changes are not LFL's strong suit.

There would probably be some blue reflections still because of the blue lights above the conveyer belt and a few bluish lights around the room.
