Yes. I was actually very impressed, given that what I saw had all kinds of noise, dirt, and damage in it, and then we'd ship the DPX files out and a week or two later we'd get back in the cleaned, perfect-looking pictures. Those guys are miracle workers.

I really hope that this isn't an indication of the new sound mix. Talk about a noticeable jump in audio sources for the dialogue.

I never noticed, but Harrison seems to be saying something different than "Now look, don't get any funny ideas". His mouth doesn't match the dialog. Just me?

It's funny how old movies are at the mercy of a handful of guys and their good/bad taste.  (This reminds me of the SUPERMAN dvd, when the guy who did the new mix said if you ever heard the '78 mix it would be SO horrible you would feel like your ears were being attacked by wolves. Then when they included both mixes a few years later, nobody anywhere felt that way.)

Man, I know I should really like the new CG yoda as the puppet for TPM was horrible. But, it just looks so out of place... which is funny considering you'd think CG would look good alongside more of it.

Except that was a real set.

Can't wait for the Green-Ray set in 2017 with an all new digital Jedi Council set!

Yeah, you see the exact same shift from blue to cyan that is shown in that picture in almost every film that has its color timing changed.  It's really irritating.

I suppose he thinks the Star Wars films need to be tinted cyan to have some sort of other-worldly/futuristic look. The cyan tint seems to be somewhat of a trend these days, e.g. Aliens.

Seeing as the set is mostly windows and everything outside is CGI he has a point.

It makes the scene more like the other PT Yoda scenes but it's not really Yoda.

In another universe somewhere they made a really good puppet.

Let's go down there.

I don't suppose for a second that he puts that much thought into it.

That was the point that I was making, but the trend's far from limited to science fiction films.

You're probably right; I suppose Lucas just does what he thinks looks cool. Also, yes, the cyan tint is prevalent these days and it is rather annoying. Whatever happened to bold, rich colors of a diverse palette, as Star Wars is supposed to have.

And, I do have one random off-topic question about color timing, is the Apocalypse Now Blu-Ray faithful to the theatrical colors or does it too suffer from revision of color timing?

I think Apocalypse Now should be discussed in off topic.  I seem to remember that there was a thread floating around somewhere devoted to it.

Man, I'd seriously love to crash blu-ray.com right now. What a bunch of assholes.

LOL, what did you expect? the second you brought up GL dying so that the UOT can be released, I knew you were going to get suspended, whether you were hoping for his death or not, it is bad form either way, so this really should be no surprise really that this happened, I mean I am not, I saw it coming.

Nah. I'm not surprised in the least. They're just so freakin' annoying. I let my temper get the best of me. ;)

It's probably "inappropriate" for their forums...but, as I stated, we talk about that on the Madonna forums all the time. Once she's dead, things will change. I'm not wishing death on anyone. I'm just stating my opinion of what will happen.

That's why I hate some of the things people post in here, wishing or not minding death of someone over because you disagree with something they did or didn't do involving an entertainment form. Overboard. Big time. I'm sure some blu-ray.com forum people would like to crash the forums here, two wrongs don't make a right, though.

There's a difference between wishing death on someone and what I said. Everyone is going to die...including George Lucas. I was just speculating as to what will happen when that inevitably does happen.

He could already have legal stuff put in place on what happens when he dies, so it may not matter anyway.

Well we all have our own thoughts on this, but I personally think it is inappropriate for any Forums myself, I know I do not like to read about that kind of stuff at all, I mean I know we are all going to "die" as you say it, but we do not need to talk about it, especially when it is about getting movies released, OH well I said enough, I need to get back out of this thread.

That's interesting.

I guess I'll go back to not ignoring reality, then?

... and now with confirmation of added dialogue and other changes, Matthew Wood comes across as a complete douche bag who's trying to put as much of his imprint on SW as possible.

To be fair it was reported that he did try to keep the new mix 'as original as possible' it was George who would undo all his work when he wanted to make a change. But as Ancorhead pointed out there appears to be an arrogance about him.

Now I'm no expert or professional and apparently this man is but why recreate a footstep or what not that couldn't be found in the archive? Is it feasible to isolate the lost sound effect from the digitalised original mix and use that as the source?
