I thought the point of Special Editions was to make more money. :p

but not in a ILM SE kind of way,

What do you mean?

By that, I mean your images are sharp and effective, but not jarring and screaming, 'LOOK AT ME! I'M A NEW BIT!'

The look of the movie could be rebooted especially by the Tattooine shots

Thanks! Everything is doable in motion :)

I agree, that most of the instances probably are doable in motion.

It would be interesting if somebody made a fan film/fan edit that tried to emulate the McQuarrie concepts.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Coming back to an older idea i came up that adding a bit more color to ANH is to add back the yellowish color in MF door pillars.

While it might look subtle it really adds a bit refresh perspective to color pallete. Also matching the ESB one.

Im not saying that the red light is doable in motion but coloring the pillars is with a few moving masks in certain areas.

Note that in the shot (blury eyes) the focus on the stormtrooper (bright spot) is more enhanced even the background has more details than before.

Also correct me if im wrong:

Behind the stormtroper there is a dark empty area. Either is the set mising or there is located the tunel that leads to the gunner seat.

I have some doubts on the second because this corridor seems more to lead to the cockpit rather somewhere else.

This shot can be done as a long horizontal canvas in motion with rotoing out the moving objects.

Quick trivia: Is anyone else noticed that luke's head appears behind R2 D2 when the falcon first get shot and lights are fading off and on? He appears in 3-4 frames and i suggest that he should be removed from that shot.

Very nice Angel, you've enhanced the off-white ruggedness of the Falcon contrasting with the sterile interiors of the Death Star, more pleasing to the eye.

Still mucking about with a background plate for the Toche Station land speeder intro...its by no means finished yet....shadows on sand around new building....make buildings dimensions decrease for distance etc.

One thing i want to add into the composition that you might want to know or consider before any final render is the dense the clarity of the basic shapes and the dynamic lines.

See it as constructing feedback (only if you want to go with that way) and not criticizing :)

See how many times different distance objects are collinding each time(red lines). and how busy a shot feels with many shapes in one side even with haze (green lines).

Also a little fact. Ben was not the only replicant in the universe :)

I repost this for Mr J:

Not sure if the pics can do the justice (ic anyone can make a gif. It appears only in 2-3 frames

The X is the empty area when the other two indicate the head.

I believe that shot is before this scene when the falcon escapes from tattoine. 3po still wears his belt and that weird plate with the spoon is in the same position as they escape. Probably is luke that coming that way

It's good and I certainly do like it.  I myself would probably prefer a change to the PT where Anakin says to Padme something about raising their child in the ways of the Jedi, probably on Mustafar while Obi-Wan is on the ramp of Padme's ship and Anakin hasn't seen him yet.  But for all intents and purposes, it's a seamless audio edit, Shadow.
