Yours is still extremely apocalyptic, though.  Mine is much calmer and, well, brotherly.

Thought it worked well Cutter... My only thought is, that you one day do a phantom cut, and work that theme in somewhere. It feels like we should have heard it before if that makes sense.

I saw what you did with Battle of the heroes cutter, and let me say there's still something knightish in the first four notes of the main melody, perhaps the so wanted Jedi Knights motiv could be extracted or based in those first four notes?

I still think that something joyful could came out of Anakin's dark deeds; and I still encourage you to try it; but I have to say the new clip of Anakin and Obiwan, with your new music fits very, very well.

Another suggestion:

Please use (or work on it) the music you can hear at 6:08 of this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGMKCrUFuMU . It's a tense section, that I think wasn't used in the movie.

Cheers

Haha. Kinda sounds like Hans Zimmer's Batman theme with a little SW mixed in.

I understand now... by "too romantic", you mean : "too lyric".

as I already said, it's not a bad idea, and I think I could do something, but I don't think I will keep Battle fo the heroes in my cut.

look (and listen), I found this two days ago  : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soGaLASQtHU&t=1m53s

it's more intense without music, ESB duel feeling

(but in my edit, there will be music in the begining of the duel)

yes of course, things aren't done in the good order here, the "goodbye old friend" sequence will be the last moment where you will hear the frienship theme.

you will hear it three times before, in the movie :

-an epic version in the begining of the space battle

-a stressfull version when Obi-wan is in trouble and when Anakin rescued him (buzz droids)

-a friendly version after the space battle, just after the landing sequence.

and I will work on it in my Attack of the Cut

" Hey John !!, you are not serious !! you will not put Holts music in star wars, it's too obvious !!"

^_^

He pretty much ditched that in ESB though.

(And I always thought the friendship motif would be more, comical in a way in certain scenes (not too comical of course) like the scherzo from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_2LeU8Wz2I

it would have been a great thing if Obi-wan and Anakin's relationship had been close in some way to the Jones relationship...I love that movie, I love the humor...I love the way the relationship is done : humor + deep feeling. It has nothing to do with the PT stupid jokes...

But for that you need great actors, great script and great dialogues....

Call it whatever you want, it just feels un-Star Wars.  I think the part of the theme that ruins it for me the most is this:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13157221/just%20no.mp3

"ba ba ba-ba-ba baaaaa"... it just doesn't feel like Star Wars... at all.  Almost sounds like something from a sad song in a musical.  I don't know what its context is in Superman, but for Star Wars, it just feels all kinds of wrong.

the thing that trouble you is not the theme itself, but the orchestration

I used that track for the Elevator scene* (I know you cut it out, and I understand why) and I thought it would have fit well if the dialogue had been good and necessary.

(*I used 0:12 onward of Alarm when Greivous enters the room if you want to know)

Nope, still not feeling it.  I just don't think it's a Star Wars-feeling theme at all.

Have you tried coming up with a 100% original one?

...come again?  All I'm saying is you have the software to create music, you have the mind to create themes.

of course I can do exactly what I want. I used "Leaving home" as main inspiration, because I love it, I love the mood...not because I can't create something new.

I am not sure you have a good idea of the work involved to create a realistic music with computer...it's not so easy, it need much time.

Like I said, I thikn The Death of Johnathan kent would have been a better inspiration track.

however I also think that its a bit too long the way you are utilizing it, I think if you cut a few of the notes and replaced them, it would work better

and it would make it seem more 70's/80's williams I think, if you used this technique somewhere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qECa54fWt9E

For the first few seconds I thought it sounded too James Bond, but then once it calmed down, it started to sound like something right out of the OT, which is really, realllllllllllllllllllllllllly good.  You've won me over again.

HOWEVER, could we please see this "in action"??  I really wanna see how this one fits, exactly.

Also, are you not using Across the Stars?  Will Anakin and Padme have a love theme?

You really have to be careful when adapting themes from one fictional universe into another.

James Horner's Aliens soundtrack was really cheapened because he obviously recycled his Klingons theme from Star Trek III and even lifted from queues from the Star Wars soundtrack.

Even to this day I keep thinking the Bird Of Prey is going to lift Ripley off that landing platform.

Your adaptation of music from Superman in my view is too recognisable to be used in a Star Wars film.

Taking the odd sweeps and crash etc are fine but bending whole themes cheapens some of the really good work you have done.

It's your edit naturally but if I'm constantly hearing Smallville, for me it's hard to concentrate on a galaxy far, far away.
