That sounds great jae......brilliant job.

So yeah, as I said I just made that quick from a clip of the movie on youtube that just has the regular dialogue. I have the dvds of course but I don't have any way to directly pull the audio onto my pc...which is why I did it like that as a test and to see if you guys like it.

I just need a wav of that scene or a nice quality mp3 and I'll remake it and post it in case anyone wants to use it in their edit. or feel free to use the one I posted if you can get it blend nicely.

Personally I would like the change. Even though the original dialogue can be chalked up to Obi-wan bending the truth for Luke's sake...he already does that SO much. Also, by having Obi-wan say "I wanted you to have this" it not only fixes a slight PT issue but I feel like it makes him a little more responsible toward Luke. It shows even more that he's already been thinking about training Luke in the Jedi ways.

I do love the mixture of teaching styles.

Obi-Wan - Here take a weapon and learn to use it with you eyes closed.

Yoda - Away put your weapons, you will not need them.

With teachers like that the PT should have practically written itself.

It'd be neat to see the T-16 in more places than just Luke's hand. I really think it could go in the prequels, but even in somebody's radical ANH edit.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

.... Now this is podracing?

It's another possible fan-film which could be installed into the main picture.

Body doubles wearing helmets could be used for close ups and that could allow for the radio drama dialogue to be used (explaining the difference in sound and why Biggs sounds nothing like he does in the rest of the film).

I do wonder if Biggs and Luke racing T16s through beggars canyon could have had made a nice anecdotal parallel to the death star trench later on.

I agree though, this would have made a really nice link in the PT, as luke would have been describing something we would have seen three films earlier.

The helmets could look a bit like the Cloud Car pilots helmets in ESB but customised (possibly with a scarf to screen out rogue high velocity sand particles).

It would also look enough like Anakin's TPM pod racing helmet for people to make the connection.

I tried to make my own edit of your audio DF Shadow, but couldn't get it to sound right.....so I used the audio from film to where R2 beeps then cut to your "I wanted you to have this when you were old enough" then cut back to video soundtrack.

You did a grand job DF

J

Thanks. I may be able to do something with that!

I have stabilised R2 at the beginning of clip & fixed a couple of glitches in the previous clip

Nice work Mr J.

The stabilization is very good and its not dead steady while keeping the nice reflections :)

"Very nice work on the shadows ( im impressed with that!!!)"

One thing. The sand as well is looks it looks off because the buildings have very hot spots in the highlights. Either you have to tone the highlights of the buildings (some areas are too contrasty too compare with the realistic looking sand (blame the 2004 transfers or Zod i dont know)

One nice touch will be to remove or desaturate the damn blue electric engines from the speeder.

Shouldn't Leia be wearing the bunny ears instead of the Stormtrooper?

Thanks Angel (& Blue)

The shadows were created by a CG model with same path as footage.

I want to improve this shot, I still think the buildings look too artificial also, maybe I'll go back to the original Toshi Station footage (or recently photographed location pics...)

I came with an idea of making the scenery more interesting while a more imitating landscape of tattooine.

A nice industrial location in Bangladesh where they brake old ships can fit to the backyard of the jawas.

Altering the establishing shot of mc quarrie's paintings and make the shot a bit more real/industrial.

Credit to the photographer that made the mood the way as the OT look like with simple colors and not extreme skies :)

It looks like the same location featured in the book, audio drama and soon to become film (partly shot just around the corner from me) World War Z.

 It certainly reminds me of...

That is Correct Bingo.

Also (mostly this goes to Mr J) I noticed that tattoine in some places have some dry vegetation, i think in the shots of sandpeople and in several shots when the speeder of luke runs from on point to another.

Would be better to remove the vegetation and have a really dry planet that the only little oasis are from the vaporators?

(This image tuned good enough. insnt the rock looks like a scull?. I improved the flatness of the shot adding a more dynamic atmospherics. Looks bigger)

Which comes to the second (more important) element i want to note. We see 3 times luke's speeder runs from left to right in side scrolling view. Not to mention i would love to alter the background so it has better perspective and detail but even more radical in some shots to change the perspective of the shots have them a bit more newly look rather an old (clever) time passing/transition.

I will come up with a new angle later :)

Love these images Angel, to get background plate for the speeder mockup could be tricky to last the entire scene.

The top shot looks do-able

You just need a longer canvas ;)

Glad you like the non vegetation shot :)

I noticed that tho is impossible to fix all the light continuity errors, i came with an idea of placing in strategic places some altered lighted images/rocks so it can see the idea better and Tie the shots better. here is one example:

What do you think?

Definitely looks different, but not in a ILM SE kind of way, what resolution did you do these at Angel?

Well ANH is general pretty dull and faded. In some places its blury and out of focus. modernize the movie with each way you know is a step closer to what i want to do :)

But i dont think its over the top compare with the crushed blacks we have today in movies. Just a tip of tonality is back

Thanks tho :)

I think Angel's recent mockups look very interesting, they have a more varied colour palette and they do inject some freshness to the SE scenes but I'd have to see them in motion to be really convinced.

Surely the point of doing special editions (in contrast to a restoration of a remake) is to make you look again at some of the original elements but from a fresh perspective.
