I reposted Zombie's post from AVS over at Blu-ray.com and it's now been deleted, along with most of the posts i have made since i joined the other day. That forum is very one sided. It seems that anyone that has valid points about the original unaltered versions vs the constantly changing special editions will just get their posts deleted, but ones that are attacking the people who want the OUT or are typical Lucas gushers don't have their posts removed. I guess the mods their are either SE fans or too afraid of upsetting George.

And NONE of kenkraly's posts have been deleted, It's almost as if he has copied and pasted all the things he has said here and on other sites. Makes me wonder if their all clones of Kenkraly over there ;)

EDIT: Quoted Davnes007 AFTER he quoted digitalfreaknyc BEFORE he edited his post...I think.

Nice to see you setting them straight on this over at avs forum, Zombie. What is very frustrating is that whenever this topic is brought up, some moron is starting to talk about it like we want to remove their precious SE from existence or something when this issue has nothing to do with that at all, do these weird people don't understand that a preservation of the original film has nothing to do with if a change that have been made to these films is considered good or not? It's so fucking tiring to be a fan of these films sometimes...

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

Could that video player be any smaller?

Yeah, it's funny that the main feature of the page is the smallest thing on it.

Also, if Lucas just "can't afford" to restore and release the OUT, how 'bout saving money instead of wasting it on drawn-out animations of cgi lightsabers carving the bluray logo into concrete walls?

Yep.

Although, now you you'll have to edit your post, because I edited my post after digitalfreaknyc edited his post.

Well almost all of the posts defending the OUT over at Bluray.com have now been deleted and we get a nice little warning from the site owner:

For the last time and it's not name the system, if you want to fight about the UOT the changes that damaged the universe or all that bantha go to the appropriate thread. Otherwise the Death Star will suspend you to beyond the Christmas after the discs are released. Do I make myself clear? I grow tired of asking this so it will be the last time.

I guess we know which camp the owner belongs to.

There are some real idiots over there that really haven't got a clue what they are talking about, yet if you try to put them straight and you'll get a ban. With all these idiots wanting the OT puppet Yoda replaced by the CG version because "it doesn't look like the PT version", defending the colouring of the 2004 DVD set saying "it makes the films look better" and "it makes them more atmospheric", "the model work on the OT looks Fake and that it should be redone with CG" etc etc etc, i'm finding myself more and more disillusioned about being a Star Wars fan if this is what the fan base is becoming.

As a response Ady:

Tommy Cooper, inexplicably on the Death Star said :

I went to the Doctor and I said, "Doctor, it hurts when I do that".

He said, "Don't do it then".

There is no point preaching to the converted but if you find preaching to the defiantly intransigent painfully depressing leave it to the concrete skinned.

A lot of what you wrote, including the repost from Micheal, has been moved to another thread.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

Pez Dispensers?

Someone earlier had posted some Star Wars themed pez dispensers so the mods moved it.  They only want people talking about the actual blu-rays in that main thread that Adywan is talking about.

So they combined legitimate discussion of the OOT with discussion of Pez Dispensers?  Who's running that forum, me?

;-)

Well they see that arguing for historically preserved films is akin to bad merchandise.

Well, according to these people you're not a "real" Star Wars fan anyway.  Kenkraly says if you don't like the prequels you are not a "real" fan.

I guess if we have the choice of enjoying beautifully restored classic films or being "Real Star Wars Fans" then I'll go with the Classics.  I guess I'm just not a fan.

I'm sick of people saying we already have the OUT on dvd and saying that it wouldn't look good in HD.

Have they never heard of restoration?  We have films from the 30's and 40's in HD and yet a film from the 70's "wouldn't look good in 1080p".  Don't they realize the original films aren't VHS or laserdisc quality?

It really is frustrating sometimes.  Thank God for Harmy's Despecialized and Dark Jedi's projects.

I don't mind being told I'm not a real fan, I don't like the word anyway and I like even less what it seems to represent these days.

I like the original STAR WARS Trilogy and Zahn's books and that's about it. If that makes me not a fan, that's great, because apparently in order to be a true fan, you need to be an oaf.

I guess that's a more to the point way of saying what I was trying to say.  Thanks, Harmy.  :)

In the dictionary "Fan" actually is a person enthusiastically interested in a diversion (such as sports) and could mean the same as fanatic: to be excessively interested in something.  I don't really consider myself to be excessively interested  in anything enough to fit that definition, yet here I am.

Anyway, how can you be accused of not liking Star Wars by preferring the original films - the very essence of what Star Wars was and is?

But what's interesting is how fragile they are about this. It's not enough they're getting what they want, they're really delicate about just having any negative thetans introduced into the conversation. Which is a good thing because it keeps the issue more alive and noisy than if they were secure enough to just ignore us.

So, where does that leave Bluray.com posters and "true fans" like "Beast", who have constantly stated the original film is inferior in that thread? ;)

I like all of the star wars films period episodes 1-6. I have never said if you don't like X , Y and Z you are not a true star wars fan ok.  I like all things star wars , the films , the clone wars tv series and everything else. We are all star wars fans to the very end. And I like all the versions of the original trilogy , original theatrical and the special editions.  I've been a star wars fan since 1990 when I 1st saw the film on VHS.

Kenkraly, you're gonna listen to me, ok? This true fan nonsense is not at all what people are complaining about in regards to you, ok? It iz the fact that your babblish posts remain while well thought-out ones such as Zombie's are lost, uh-huh. You understand me, okay. Good.
