Wait did they delete some of our posts? That was ART! I'm offended!
(Mostly joking)
To be fair, the anti-GL vitriol around here does get ridiculous. But only sometimes.
As for the RP boards, it's because this site is full of old fogeys, and that collides poorly with innocent youths with fandom aspirations.

I imagine the same would happen if Fate Foretold tried to promote his forums on the same site.

You can do that? What about Jeditray's posts?
I wouldn't be surprised to read that Jay can archive posts that haven't been written yet.

I would guess this wiki-style feature was implemented because of the JTray.
No, it's nothing as clever as that.
Basically, if JediTray had spammed his threads to every other Star Wars forum on the internet, I could have found the posts and reinstated them.

If indeed these people spam their comments on every board they can find, why are you guys the only people that react in any way, either good or bad?Moth3r said:

has been corrected!
Generally speaking I'd say it's because on the whole people on here are actually rather supportive of any sort of fan endeavor.
The NNRRPB forums may have received jovial traffic but it was functional joke traffic (as apposed to no traffic or functionally disruptive traffic).
It gave the guy the chance to work out how to handle users and how to control the short influx of use on his forums.
If there had been a general interest this could have been valuable practice for when the site took off in the manner he expected.
If I had been running that board I would have recognised a potential niche and turned the thing into a comedy pastiche and encouraged the OT.COMedy members to be the core of a comedy pastiche of the role playing forums of which there are many.
If they had been encouraged to keep posting it could have snowballed into a popular site, even if it wasn't in the manner he expected (Jay didn't expect the Fan Editing thing to sprout on these forums but he gave it a space and that brought more people on here who took an interest in the other possibilities of this place).

Exactly. I'm probably going to suggest something along those lines at some point with Captain Ric. But not before I bitch about my character being deleted...

Hello.
I would like to request a explanation regarding the reasoning behind the deletion of my character thread, and specifically the deletion of my Johnny Rancor character sheet.
As far as I can tell, I broke no rules or regulations. Furthermore, there was no explanation, no warning, no PM, no email, not even a notice that it had been removed. Just a simple deletion.
I would humbly suggest that this is not an optimal way to run a forum. If we don't know all the rules, it's hard for us not to break them.
Also, two of my posts from the Q&A thread were deleted. I don't understand this either, as I made no offensive remarks, I was on-topic, and played by the rules of the game. In fact, a similar third post I made was left untouched.
If it is not yet obvious, I am thoroughly confused. At the risk of repeating myself, or saying something that need not be said, I really would appreciate some feedback and discussion regarding this matter.
I await your reply in good-natured humbleness,
Captain Ric Olie
Found this on another board:

Since the very recent deletion of the official StarWars.com message board, the Star Wars fan community has been in desperate need of a new place to call home. There are literally almost no Star Wars boards out there, and the ones in existence that I personally have been able to find are either old and no longer active, in addition to being major eye-sores, or are just completely and utterly ugly and with few to no members.
Hmmm....
TFN would be the eyesore (have they ever redesigned?), but they have thousands of members. But wait, what does what it look like have to do with anything?TV's Frink said:

And my post has been deleted.
Jeez, what a great way to run a forum.

Hello,
I'm growing frustrated at the deletion of my posts and threads without any warning or explanation. I believe my last thread asking about this was perfectly reasonable, yet it was deleted just the same.
Please, let's discuss this like rational adults. Thank you for your consideration.
Seriously, why not just ban me?
Well, at least we are discussing the situation now, although it's is via PM rather than in public as I would prefer. Seems that all members would benefit from a public discussion.
*shrug*
I won't reveal PM details out of respect for the other site.

Home is where you post. The clicks of F.SW.c have begun starting their own new places instead of joining under one umbrella. For instance:
Port Haven: http://starwarsmessageboards.com/index/
has an active community.
But please also ask them to mention what they would like to see again from the old forums. Can post here:
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Starwarscom-closes-its-forums/topic/12716/
or PM, as i'm probably the only one interested round these parts.

Because i'm lame.
I could lend you a walking stick.
I am a member of the CelestiaLights Senate on a diplomatic mission to the Original Trilogy.
TV's Frink asked that I reply here to reach out and help explain some things to your community that I was able to discuss with him. I firstly want to thank him for being open to discussion and not wanting to cause forum wars (Star Wars edition!).
I'd like to apologize for causing any disturbances (*ahem* in the Force) here by my having started this topic. It was never my intention to create such hostility in the members here. I will basically be telling you what I was able to talk to TV's Frink about.
I created this message board just a few nights ago out of a sudden burst of enthusiasm to finally do so (as I had been considering creating a Star Wars message board for quite some time after having had success running another active board). Of course, the biggest problem with making your own message board is acquiring members and promoting it. I first turned to social networking by means of Facebook and Twitter, though I wanted to reach out more to the Star Wars community in places where I figured I would find people who might consider joining. It's always a bit like walking on eggshells when you go about promoting a website, as some places clearly allow website advertising and others either don't or aren't as open to it.
I managed to find OriginalTrilogy.com after a few searches on Google and figured I'd take a chance making just one post about SWCL there. I don't have a lot of time these days (with work and preparing for a move coming up), otherwise I normally would take time to PM members individually and in more of a private and respectful manner to the message board itself rather than plastering it publicly. However, I didn't expect the flaming to crop up in this thread itself, which to me came across as unjustified, hurtful, surprising, and offensive. I don't know anyone here, and obviously you guys aren't familiar with me or CelestiaLights, so I wasn't clear as to why instant hostility seemed to spread like wildfire between everyone here. Deciding it best to leave this place alone and to not even bother trying to communicate, thereby fueling the fire, I had my other Administrator, Axiom Awaits, log in at OriginalTrilogy.com as me while I was away at work and just erase my post there, deciding that would be the best course of action in order to let all this unnecessary drama disparate.
I'll admit that contacting a board moderator before posting in a forum is probably the best course of action, though I probably wouldn't have gotten anywhere with my promotion of my other message board had I done that, truth be told. It's difficult starting out, and in order to get your name out there, you kind of have to step on a few toes, I've learned. I don't ever mean to be rude about it or to stir the pot to the point of it boiling over, so I usually try to approach promoting as delicately yet effectively as I can.
Thank you for your time in reading this, and I hope that we can move forward either in good nature or at least with some disregard for one another.
