Celebration VI — Page 2

I did hear that young Anakin ghost was booed at the last one, when they showed Jedi. Wonder if that helps Lucas get a clue, since that's the friendliest crowd possible for that stuff. Probably not.

about the only reason I'd go is if Lucas was going to be showing up and I had the chance to boo him and chant "Han Shoots First!" in his face.

I feel like the majority of fans want Han to shoot first. Am I wrong? I mean I see "Han shot first" shirts all over the place. Am I wrong on this? Someone tell me I'm right or I'll cry. ;(

yes, we do want Han to shoot first, Lucas doesn't though,  that is why I wish to chant it in his face.

Is there a good spot to aim a video projector out a hotel window onto the side of a building? A guerilla screening of Puggo Grande is what's needed! ;)

Best idea i've heard in a long time....in a long time....

I'm going to attempt to be there. Seems like a neat event. Being surrounded by all things Star Wars feels like just about my idea of Heaven.

Er, wait... Boo! Star Wars is ruined forever! Rawr! *gnash teeth* *foam at mouth*

How about instead of an annual celebration we Star Wars OT fans organise an annual mourning?

OT.com convention complete with dance party, gif posting events, dolby vs. dts debate, panel discussions on the differing video releases and audio mixes, and coffee.

Ric Olie is really important, but it is also important to discover if any chicks in their late 30s (biological clock ticking and all that) will be at this event dressed as Twileks. If so, I may attend. I have some custom stormtrooper armour that I can't wait to show off! That will get those lekku twitching, if you know what I'm saying (wink wink).

I see nothing about the current state of Star Wars to celebrate.

Indeed why go to a large gathering of warsie nerds who dress up as stormtroopers and kiss Lucas ass the sycophants, when the original films are locked up in skwalker ranch and he won't release them.

Lets pay money to the almighty bearded one and worship him. And celebrate the destruction of the oot.

You can also use the opportunity to network with the people who will one day revive the movie you believe is lost.  There's space at or near the event to do your own thing.  (but i'm only judging from being at the last one)  I was able, without any hassle, to hand out several hundred strange DVDs, (to all levels of fandom) a similar thing can happen at the next one, to an even greater level.

and the projection idea is something to really consider, would need some help, please suggest tech here:

Now that I think about it, it'd be great to actually organise a convention for Star Wars OT style fans. I was kidding before, but the more I think about it the more I think it's necessary for us to have a definite "declaration of independence" from Lucasfilm and its actions.

Fans of other series are lucky enough to have creators who are mostly respectful of their fans, but Lucas obviously holds his base in contempt and expects them to shift to meet his demands rather than make any compromises himself.

With this in mind, I can picture groups of people getting together to watch screenings of the OOT (in whatever form we can get our hands on them), trade, discuss and have panels with guys like Adywan, Mike Stoklasa and maybe even Gary Kurtz.

But, then, this is probably impossible and way too niche to draw the necessary numbers. I can dream, though. I don't think I could take being at the average conventions with all the Lucas gushers.

OT.COM is pretty close to that sort of Star Wars Celebration.

We can either directly interact with some of the sort of people you describe or indirectly via links to rare interviews, web projects like SSW.COM or great documentary projects like Jambe's or None's lovely craziness indirectly experience more of the behind the scenes and around the edges world of Star Wars than is 'conventionally' available.

The prequels just suck, although TPM was at least an attempt to make a film with an original vision. I think. It still sucked.

I'm having a hard time telling if he's a sock.

I certainly need a sock when thinking of Aayla Secura. Another fine contribution to Star Wars lore from the EU.

Which version of Aayla? Blue Amy Allen Aayla? Green Amy Allen Aayla? Pre-Amy Allen Aayla? Post-Amy Allen Aayla?

Funny how even the first part of this will be on BD and the second part isn't.
