...I'm back on the verge. Any news, Cutter? :-D

Both ROTS edits are so quiet, but looking what you guys have already done, it's worth to wait.

Yes

I am waiting for the blu-ray to finish my cut -

meanwhile I am working on new original music for this edit.

Coming soon : Birth of twins.

New cut, no more : "ouba ! ouba !" and new music of my own(it will contain of course a variation of Luke and Leia's theme).

I think it works vey ver well, though it's very loud, it almost masks ObiWan. But as far as music concerns, it's 10/10, and don't know why, I'm not surprised, considering all you've done to audio in your edit ;)

Don't know how far you intend to go visually with it, but if you want, you could always remove that silly 21st century colorful oval hologram and put some old fashion 1970s buttons xD.

No, but seriously, congratulations. And it's always nice to see both ROTS edits are moving, Bob's and yours.

Personally I think yours and Bob's edits should merge. Yours works on a musical/thematic level and his works visually :) But I like the music change.

Thanks guys !

Yes Gandalf, you're right it's too loud, I will correct this

and yes Bob (and Vaderios) do a great job, but I think it will be hard to merge because we have not exactly the same vision...but at the end, I will certainly ask him to give me some sequences ^_^ (Utapau by night etc)

The music is a great improvement but I would prefer the children to go un-named and born on Dagobah.

The Birth of the twins :

New original music (based on Luke and leia's theme) and new cut

I love it, I always thought this theme should play a part in during this scene.

(however, If you ever do a Jurassic Park: The Lost World edit, and you replace any music, I will have to make you disappear lol)

(of course there will always be detractors: "Nah, it sounds too much like fan masturbation ('Hear! It's Luke & Leia's Theme!!) but it isn't the right tone for the scene, since the tune seems to represent a romantic manifestation of grown people worlds apart, which hasn't any context here. Williams could've subtly hinted at at, but certainly forgot the tune" ~JWfan member)

 ah ah ! ^_^

I only try to stick to a basic principle in Star Wars music : the leitmotiv

It may seem a bit excessive, but the original sequence lacks too much emotion...

and this scene must represent also the beauty of birth, the hope etc so, IMO, it's not a nonsense to make it very lyric and romantic.

That was pretty cool. Have you thought of having the droids theme in the following scene? You know, the one for R2 and C3PO

You are talking about the glorious end of the music ? it was actually my fear - my first version was slighter,  but I tought it would be nice to finish this with a "brass power chord"

greenpenguino, what music are you talking about ? (post a youtube link if you can)

He is referring to the Droid motif, which was only used in ESB, its used extensively when they first arrive on Dagobah

It seems possible to do that, and I like the idea

I will try

Oh and please make Artoo make his 'I am sad' sound when his friend is scheduled for a lobotomy instead of laughing his nuts off.

I think you overstate the situation. His personality will remain unchanged.

Also, Artoo consistently has a child-like personality.

We are all the sum of our memories.

Experiments funded during the cold war used electroshocks and LSD to remove all but the basic functional memories of some patients suffering from mental illness and the result was to essentially kill the person they once were and create a new person from scratch.

Threepio may still have the same voice and character traits but he would not have any recollection of his past.

If this happened to a friend of yours you wouldn't be happy.

The edited Vader Birth scene is less ridiculous but it's still silly.

I'd lose the cuffs and just have him stand.

Palpatine could start to explain that Padme is reported dead but Vader would still be stuck in betrayal mode and just shuts down the conversation.

"She no longer means anything to me", is more Vader, he might have turned to the dark side to save her but once he is there he claims not to care.

The good man he should have been is buried under scar tissue, technology and self loathing.

He kills his former best friend and mentor and is happy to do so in ANH, Padme would be as dead to him alive as she would be if she had physically died.

Besides Padme needs to stay alive for a couple of years anyway so that Leia can remember her (not unless Vader's rebuild took a long time).

Yeah, I am already working on this other version, but it's not easy because of the music cut

if only I could have more James Earl Jones material
