What did we honestly do to deserve to be constantly fucked int he ass? It seems the better quality home video gets, the OT gets increasingly worse treatment. GL/LFL are probably the most sadistic people alive today (outside of a third world dictatorship). They made the most profitable franchise in movie history, so I guess that gives them the right to screw people over and not even give a fuck about the legacy they are destroying. Lucas is a fraud. A stone cold, utterly talentless fraud. NO one honestly expected the PT to as bad as it ended up. NO one expected the OT to be constantly changed every seven years and make the originals that made him an undeserving billionaire unavailable and impossible to enjoy. All he is done in the last 20 years is expose himself for the waste of life he truly is. He is scum. And people think I am insane? GL and his cartel have not done a sane, reasonable act since 1981.

Every time I read your posts, generalfrevious, this image comes to mind:

Too bad GL is controls people like a psychopath. I am becoming more convinced that he made SW to manipulate and psychologically control people.

Go ahead asshole. That still does not erase the fact that GL is the greatest fraud in the history of cinema, and people still consider him a genius, there is still the fact the continues to shit upon the OOT and can't do the ridiculously simple act of releasing these movies in a quality format, there is still the fact that the BD release is going to suck royally (and the box art reflects this), and the fact that we have no idea what version LFL is going to throw at us in this new release, whether it will be the 04 version or some new, even worse version that will make you nostalgic for the 04 sets.

You don't need to be an insane conspiracy theorist to understand that GL views even the OT as products designed to make money. They may have become accidental masterpieces, but they still products designed to make people money. The problem with GL is that he continues to screw us over with product no one wants and never gives us the products he wants. He is a psychopath, in the sense that he has no empathy for other people and manipulates others through many psychological techniques to win over others. He does not understand the emotional attachment we have to these movies and feels like he can screw it up with the PTSE. Go look up the word psychopath if you don't believe me.

Freivious your post reminds me of that South Park episode, no Indy run. LOL.

Apparently having a life, caring about quality, and liking Star Wars are mutually exclusive activities to some. I'd love to see the "lives" of some of these asshats.

Also, after reading those comments, I now no longer feel like America has the dumbest population.

Here are my thoughts on the box set, mind you I actually enjoy the prequels as well as the OT

1.  The extras for each film on their individual disc stink.  Besides the deleted footage (nice) is the 3D maquette you can turn around which will be fun for about 30 seconds.

2.  Full length dcumentaries devoted to "fandom" and "parodies"  Are they kidding?  Nobody gives a crap about fan films as their pretty much all mediocre and done by bored LARP players.  I can see a 10 min segment on parodies but a huge chunk of disc.  Ugh.

3.  No holy grails.  No Lost Cut of Star Wars before it was re-edited back in 77.  No remastered original editions.  They didn't even put the GOUT on these.  Usually box sets are intended for you to throw out the old dvd copies.  Definitly not here.

4.  All of the box art is wretched.  That Anakin/Luke painting is a disaster.  I don't even know what to think of the Vader one.

5. No isolated scores

Ok what could the box set have had?  How bout a separate disc with the Making of Star Wars and Empire by Rinzler as something you could still frame through.  How bout all the scripts?  How bout From Star Wars to Jedi?  How bout anything of value!

The deleted scenes will be online probably before the disc even hits stores, thats what we all want to see.  But unless the transfer is insane this is just not the uber box we've been promised for years.  Remember when George said "I want the box to be almost a tutorial on the whole filmmaking process?" That was years ago but I guess he was too busy letting Katie Lucas write Clone Wars episodes to remember.

Rant over, thanks :)

I completely forgot about the six-part robbery known as the 3D releases of the SW saga. The PT is totally going to be hyped all over agin by the press, despite people like RedLetterMedia who explain why the PT sucks. Plus, none of the SW movies are native 3D so the picture is going to be on par with The Last Airbender. Why did they wait so long to release SW on Blu-ray anyway? To hype up the 3D releases. They did in 04 with the OT DVDs, in order to hype up ROTS after the failure of the first two movies of the PT.

Season 4 of clone wars will most likely be the only new Lucasfilm tv or movie project in production, as i doubt the tv series live action will happen now, or any more theater films.

So people can look forward to season 3 as a DVD/blu ray set and wait to see season 4.

I would like to have the deleted scenes and making ofs in standard def, but i am not willing to shell out money for them in 1080P just to get 6 bad movies i don't want.  I only want the oot.

I'm quite disappointed with the response to the box set here.

Not enough fun has been made of the inclusion of the 90 minute cosplayer documentary ;)

Live action series? I really hope it does not come to fruition now. It would make the franchise even worse than it is now. Most people want the OOT, skyjedi2005, yet GL is the only human being on the planet who does not understand this.

There really should not be three hours devoted to cosplayers/toy collectors and parodies. No serious boxset would include that for their movies. It is completely moronic that that junk would get a higher priority over the original films. The very thing that should be on the boxset is not there- the original versions of the OT. That's all you need, not this other bullshit that does not matter in the long run.

Like I said before, there are still millions of the 2004 box sets on the shelf and they want to sell those too.

Maybe they would sell better if they did not fuck up the first time around. We don't need to see Hayden at the end of ROTJ

Well, sadly, commercially the 2004 DVD set was pretty f*cking far from f*ck up.

Disappointing that From Star Wars to Jedi is getting left off the set just like the original films themselves.

What was wrong with the master for from star wars to jedi  ?

What's annoying is the set is 9 discs, which is more than enough room for a home run set, so it's not like space was a consideration. (the '97 and '04 would fit on the same disc no problem, and the originals on disc 7-9. Some deleted scenes on all 9 discs, the end.) It's not like I ever need to see another person sitting in a tastefully decorated Skywalker Ranch room talking about Star Wars.

Also no Parbot Empire documentary.

I have nothing bad to say about fan films (some are rather fun and well made) indeed a documentary about them would be a welcome addition to a disc set that included the OOT restored and presented in HD.

It's obvious why there isn't a documentary about fan edits or more importantly fan preservations, ironic considering that this set (like the 2004 DVD set before it) is going to make those avenues of creativity thrive much more than any fan film award ceremony or documentary will for that community.

If Lucas put all this other stuff on the Blu set, how would he sell the next one?

And you know it's coming...

We will have to go deeper.

Remember on a 2222222200000555566 inch screen that picture will be still visable.

This is what I hate the most: the real OT is still stuck in the early 90s in terms of video quality. I might be saying this all over again, but we should make a petition to bring back 4:3 televisions if LFL continues to refuse to restore the OOT. It would honestly be a more useful petition.

On a side note, at least the horrible BD art is indicative of the horrible quality these movies are going to be. I'm going to say they will make us nostalgic for the 04 sets.

I saw something pretty cool on the rebelscum forums that I thought you guys would appreciate.  It's pathetic when amateurs working from home can throw together better work in their spare time than a multimillion dollar corporation like Lucasfilm can produce for market... (oh, wait, that exactly what people here at OT.com do all the time....!)  It would be better if he actually used an OT Vader suit, but you get the idea.

Darth_Engelhast from Rebelscum.com said:

Okay kids here is me putting up or shutting up with my own idea for the complete saga's cover art.

The blue text and logo would be printed on a clear plastic slip cover that would set above the artwork.

The cover itself would be printed in 3D Lenticular plastic that and would switch from picture to picture when tilted from side to side.

Not too shabby for a couple hours work huh? I'm sure I could do better but I really don't want to waste anymore time on it.

I'm not happy with this documentary either, or the parody documentary. These have nothing to do with the movies, so 90 minutes each is ridiculous. 5-10 minutes would have been okay.

But to call the 501st cosplayers? That's going a little bit too far.
