The one that springs to mind first is when Gunray says, "Distract them" before sending in the Destroyer droids.

In the hanger Qui-Gon could say "More droids, very dangerous".

The Queen's message could begin with the British National anthem and her lines could be from one or many of Elizabeth II's Christmas broadcasts.

I've been meaning to make a 5.1 encode of the 12 minute clip to check out on my sound system and see how bad the echos really are.

I think the Battle Droid subtitles could be useful for a serious edit, although it's easy enough to just edit them out I suppose.

I'm also intrigued by doing the Jar Jar subtitles directly from his dialogue but making them more regal.

So, there's a 36 second bit where they swim down to the Gungan city.  I haven't been able to think of anything to do with this scene, so I figured the best way to deal with it would be to speed it up 4x to get it over with in 9 seconds.  I thought of putting in a fast forward graphic but nothing like that comes with the standard Vegas FX pack.  Best I could do was the timecode.

Good enough?  Would the FF graphic be worth trying to figure it out?

Unfortunately I don't know what can be done about the loops.  I do crossfade them but it's a necessary evil.  I could go with longer loops but then I get worse echos, more sound effects that don't make sense, etc.

^and or a mixture of Lara Coft and Link off Zelda swimming sound effects.

or maybe a bit of Disney.

Put in the FF >>, which ended up being really easy (just turned a subtitle on and off), and then tried out a few distortion effects.  Not 100% sold on it but might be good enough.  And there is some more Jar Jar fun after that.

If you are going with the 5 min joke you could through in all manner of undersea action footage, (sharks, Bond, Return Of Captain Nemo, synchronised swimmers etc) and mix that into the footage of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon swimming and add the speed up and a time code counting almost to five minutes (as sped up as the rest of the footage).

That way Jar-Jar has only just lost and has to pay a life debt.

Speeding the footage up would be a great way of implying a really exciting sequence that has been skipped over.

Not sure, but I can look into it.

I agree.  I didn't think it sounded good when I read it, but it ended up very funny.  And I can see that in the edit :-)
