According to this, a DVD-9 was released, however it was after I got this copy.

That guy is a comedy genius. I've gone back to the lemming avatar for a bit to show my appreciation.

Hey Spence, just watched the clip you posted on MU and thought I'd provide a little feedback. Firstly, I'm really like the black and white effects on the footage, really works better with pretty poor shooting of TPM than I was expecting. The choice of music was certainly pleasing, that particular Philip Glass piece I've listened too so, so often. (Really, that whole album would make the perfect soundtrack for an adaptation of any of Philip K Dick's writings).
However, I was wondering if any sound effects or dialogue would be present in the final cut of the scene, it just seems to me that perhaps the use of Lightsaber sounds and the like might help the music tie into the visuals more. Anyway, just at thought. Really super stuff so far.

If you are going to use sound in the lightsaber fights, how about using the original clashing sounds from the original trilogy

Thanks for the feedback!

I've just watched the clip. I love that song. I know it mostly from watchmen. I'm not sure I like it for that scene though. But like others said I can't tell for sure without the other sounds.

That scene is going to be tough as its so famous for the original music that went with it.

I wouldnt suggest that...

Apart the fact that many tried it and all failed hard putting a choreographed sound design/mix that were for specific shots/moves and timing, to a complete different enviroment you have to calculate all the rest elements.

I wouldnt mind tho have some sound design present but heavily muffled so the music or the dialogue from vader takes place.

EDIT: Revenge of the Cut had some pretty solid sound design considering the swings and the hums (minus the saber clash sounds). The cutter prove that a bold sound desinger knows where to put what considering the music and ambient and how all these can tie together without being destracting or anoying..

Spence i suggest to seek the clips and take references or ideas :)

Well, I'm not really worrying about the sound effect editing at this stage, just trying to get the structure of the edit in place. That will come later.

I'm downloading the clip now, can't wait!  Really excited to see the final product.

Hang on a sec...I didn't even realize where that led to if you click on it here (for the correct page, just copy the link into a new tab/window).  Jeez, that guy is even more of a joke than I realized.

btw, if you go to FE.org and then click on a link to his website from there, you get this message:

The fact that his edit isn't very good annoys me even more. It sounded like a good idea, but it just devolves into random sequences and events without any emotional through line. His "twist" in the final scene is ridiculous and is executed very poorly. The only thing I would say I liked about it was his Jar Jar removal, which is admittedly very well done.

The edit has zero handle on the actual plot and character arcs of the movies, nor does it try to change and improve them. His structure is interesting, but he makes everything that happens in the movie almost pointless. Without Anakin's end to his story, there's just random people we don't care about doing random things. Basically he took what's wrong with the prequels and made it infinitely worse.

I just don't like his "I'm awesome" attitude. Most people that are awesome don't know it, and if you think you're awesome, chances are you are in actuality a douche bag. Which I would say is definitely the case here.

I will not be asking to borrow anything from this edit. Anyone with that sort of attitude I wouldn't want anything to do with anyway. I'll find my own way with removing Jar Jar.

I concur on every single point.  And wow, that ending... It's a rather glorious train wreck of an ending. Really he should have released that scene and called it a day. Youtupe craptastic indeed.

Yeah I didn't know that was coming, and I laughed out loud. Then I felt like I had wasted almost three hours of my life watching this stupid edit. There are so many glowing reviews for it on HIS website too, who would've thought?

What a jerk.

So I've been thinking about how to release this. Here's my ideas.

The original plan was to do a DL DVD release of the entire thing when it's all done. However, having a finished version of the first part completed and sitting there seems a bit silly.

So what if I released these as AVI's as they are completed? For instances part 1, which would be the prologue through to the end of TPM, would be done first, so I could release that, then do the same with AOTC and then ROTS with the epilogue.

This way, I can get some feedback on the individual pieces so the versions in the full DVD can be improved. Also, it gets the thing out there, so there's less waiting.

What do you guys think? If I go this route I could probably have part 1 released in about a month.

Hey, spence. How are you getting on with this? Any update?

Do you need help with any shots?

Also I was scouting around and discovered this on youtube.  It's the duel of the fates theme performed by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. It's sounds slightly different to the regular one, in terms of pitch and stuff. I don't know if this could be of any use for you.  :)

As much as I love this project, I've been finding myself getting a bit burned out on Star Wars. So I'm taking a very small break from it to clear my head of the Galaxy Far Far Away so I can come at it with fresh eyes. I'm working on a Lord of the Rings edit just for funsies over at FE.org, if you're interested in checking that out.

And that version of Duel of the Fates... lets just say I already have that. And I like it a lot.

It sounds very climactic, don't you think? :)

I'll check out your LOTR edit.

Still set on using Requiem for a Dream?

ok.  My English class (I'm a senior in high school) went on a field trip a few weeks ago to a cheap production of Hamlet, and during the final fight scene, they used the piece.  Reminded me of how often the song is used, which then thus reminded me of your edit.  I chuckled.  I still think you should choose another piece for what otherwise looks like a most interesting edit.
