Yeah, actually, why did you post that, awesome though it may be?

PS: Got all of the effects shots tonight.

It just seemed appropriate. With the final shots arriving for the completion of this project, it feels like the first time I saw that poster... the promise that the Saga is coming to an awesome climax and I'm gonna be there to see it, Day 1.

I remember walking into a comic store in Seattle that had that advance poster before the name had been changed. It was the first thing I ever saw from Star Wars VI, and it never really got better than that.

A funny thing about Lucas' reasoning behind changing the name of Episode VI.

He said he chose "Return of the Jedi" over "Revenge of the Jedi" after realizing the Jedi didn't really have something to get revenge for.

Then he used that word for Episode III, "Revenge of the Sith".

But that movie (Episode III) is a laundry list of things for which the Jedi could get revenge --while (unless I missed it) it never really explains what "revenge" the Sith are seeking.

It seems a better case could be made for the titles to be reversed-- "Ep. 3: Return of the Sith" and "Ep. 6: Revenge of the Jedi".

While I think Lucas also feels revenge is not something a Jedi master should consider worthy of his attention, I sure wish he'd stuck with that original title.

Sometimes, when you post sometime most people wouldn't understand because there's a personal story behind it, it might be good to explain it...

So I realized that the track I'm using for the end credits is much longer than the original track, so I ran out of credits.

So I just started putting stupid sh!t up there after the credits were over. If you feel like having a bit of a giggle, watch the entire credits.

You guys are all getting a shout out in there, as well as some other people. I think everyone here will enjoy the credits. Except maybe lordsidi. :)

woohoo, humorous credits. Those are always fun to read.

Well played sir. Well played.

The edit of the movie is done. Now it's just wrapping up the features/DVD/links.

Bob's shots are incredible. I'm so excited about them. I can't wait to watch this with some friends.

I may have to post a clip of some of bob's work on Tuesday if I don't have the release ready by then. It really is that impressive. For me, it's less that it looks awesome (which it does) but just how much it changes the feel of things.

Luke has to defeat the Emperor now, or he would be able to flee and fight another day. Now, because Luke is successful in his goals, the galaxy is free of the Sith. It just adds so much more to the story. Very, very exciting stuff.

Just a quick update... I've been working on this all day, it's coming along really nicely. I'm just refining it, making sure nothing is out of sync, etc. The features are finished. I think it'll be ready by Wednesday/Thursday.

does that mean that Luke kills him instead of Vader throwing him overboard or....what?

These character improvements are what makes this so exciting.

Han Solo was the character given the worst end of the stick in ROTJ, I think. Very near every single thing he does turns out to be wrong.

Without spoiling anything with specifics, can you tell us if Han got any improvements that surprised you as you went along?

Just by taking away his goofiness, his "Jar-Jar" moments, he comes off as a stronger and more heroic character. The thing I wish I could've improved is that Han really doesn't have much of a character arc, but the material isn't there to improve that. His arc in the original is just a repeat of the last two movies, being jealous of Luke and not sure if Leia loves him, but instead of handling it like a smooth scoundrel, he handles it like a kindergardener in Jedi. So I removed that. He's a stronger character, for certain, but he still doesn't have very much to do.

The DVD files are rendered. Hopefully I can put the finishing touches on this today.

I don't know if anyone here is helped by this, but since I used Vegas to assemble the final product and Vegas' Mpeg2 rendering engine is kind of crap, I wanted to use an external encoder like HCenc. If any of you have tried that, you know it's a bit complicated, with having to write scripts and stuff to make it work.

Well, I was recommended to a program called "The FilmMachine" Basically, it does all of that for you. It's very simple, and makes the process so much easier. The results look about three times better than they would if I had rendered the mpeg2 in Vegas. I'm kind of technology retarded, and I could figure it out, which also means most medium to large sized mammals could too. Recommended!

I also have hidden two easter eggs on the disc, one is by Rogue-theX and is pretty hilarious, the other is a super secret trailer for a project I'm working on that will not be completed for quite a while. I think you guys might like it though.

See if you can find both of them!

Fingers crossed that this gets completed today. I should be able to render an XviD version tonight at the very least and get that posted by tomorrow. The DL DVD looks really nice though, so you might want to wait for that, picture quality turned out really good. Or get both. Your call. There won't be a SL DVD, but if you wanted to make one it probably would still look pretty good if you put most of the compression onto the features as opposed to the movie.

If there's enough call for it, I may release an SL barebones disc with just the movie and the commentary.

haha, awesome. I'll buy a cookie for whoever finds it first. A good cookie.

The "secret" project will be really, really cool. I'm excited about it, but it's an endeavour. It will probably take a while to be done, hopefully around October or so I can release it. It's Prequel related. I'll be working on a Fanedit of the movie Faster next, and then hopefully The Force Unleashed and one other non-star wars edit, doing this other project in the background.
