Oh DJ, one suggestion, when you release it, you should definitely release on a BD-25. With all the extras for the V3 plus the upconverted V3, I doubt a BD-9 will be sufficient unless something is sacrificed; however, if you can somehow manage this, more power to you. I personally wouldn't recommend a BD-50, as they are more expensive and I'm not sure that the quality difference between 1 BD-25 and a BD-50 would be significant.

USS() - Ultimate Super Sample

Script is 3 years old, could do with updating (to use NNEDI2/3, for example) but worth a shot.

Thanks EVERYONE, and thanks Moth3r for that link, I will look into that as well, now I have a tech question for you guys, when replacing a monitor, do you have to uninstall the drivers(to the old monitor) before adding the new one, or can you just hook up new monitor and go?

and the goal is BD25, I can do either way but not sure I will need 50 GB's LOL, hell maybe I can replace all the ac3 files with the raw PCM's, sure would be nice to have hairy_hen's files in 6 mono lossless wav files, if I did I could encode DTS-HD MA 5.1 files instead, now that would ROCK!

Do you have any ideas on how to edit it for those newer versions, and have you actually messed with this before? and if so what are your thoughts on it?

Thanks again

Just out of curiosity, is there anyone here that can burn AVCHD files and test on an actual Blu-ray\PS3 player, not PC testing, I can do that myself?

Author

Dang, That could be a reason for me to actually buy a Blue-ray disc player.

I can do that, but not 'till later tonight.

I can do that but I need to get blank Blu-Ray media for myself... so maybe in like 4 days if Sluggo hasn't done so already. Do you want me to get them?

for the samples you will not need blank BD discs, regular blank SL DVDr's will work fine, I actually use DVDrw's, that way I can erase.

1 more thing, I just want you guys to know, this is very preliminary, I am only in the planning\sampling\playing\dreaming stage LOL.

Well yes but it depends on the size of what DJ wants us to burn. I can do a DVD-5 right now for example. In the case of a DVD-9, I need to borrow my friend's so I'll be able to burn it tomorrow night. If it is bigger than a DVD-9, I'll need to get blank BD-25s, which will cause me to not be able to burn it until about Friday.

EDIT: Oh DJ, if you just need a guy to test something the size of a blank SL, count me in. I can do it right now.. So... do you want me to burn anything?

I am also certainly all for it.

This sounds like a great idea. I especially like the idea of having lossless audio.

I can test an AVCHD sample on my PS3 also.

I'm downloading it now. I'll test it was soon as I can.

I am sure you probably already know this but, you do know to burn it using UDF and version 2.5 right?

You should give Tritical's EDIUpsizer a go.  It's built off of NEDI.  He also has a FastEDIUpsizer, but I don't know if you are sacrificing speed for quality: http://bengal.missouri.edu/~kes25c/

Moth3r's linked script seems newer, but may be very similar.  NNEDI (instead of standard filter flavors) is needed when upscaling by large factors.

I knew I needed to burn at UDF and version 2.5 but thanks for reminding me. Anyway, I tested it on my PS3 and it doesn't work :-( I tried burning it again and it still didn't work... However, I haven't updated my PS3 in a while, I'll update then try once more.

EDIT: By the way, I have successfully played home made AVCHDs/Blu-Rays on my PS3 before, if anyone's curious.

I just watched the above sample I posted, does it have issues, certainly, but for what it is, and at a very low bitrate, it definitely has promise, also that was 720p instead of 1080p which I prefer.

Thanks Dr M I will have a look, keep the suggestions coming, OH and speed is a non issue here, quality all the way.

I once again tried the two test discs on my PS3 (I burned it twice) after updating it. It still doesn't seem to work for me... It shows as a data disc with the BDMV and the Certificate folders. I looked under BDMV -> Stream-> and it says unsupported content... Perhaps it's an error exclusive to the PS3... Has anyone else tried it?

Author

Can you just navigate into the stream folder and play the stream? I think I have done this before.

Author

That's what I tried to do, DJ. It didn't work. The stream appeared as unsupported.

Do you have Tsmuxer on your PC? if so try taking the sample and loading it into that, and making a AVCHD file instead of Blu-ray, maybe the PS3 needs something different, I have a PS3 but test on my Sony BDP-S350 standalone player, it is worth a shot PS3's are so damn finicky.

All right. I'm trying that right now... It's weird. I've successfully burned AVCHDs and Blu-Rays in the past, for example Adywan's HD Releases

EDIT: I just tried using TSMuxer to make an AVCHD. It now plays on my PS3 but with no video... :-( I'm not quite sure if it's just my PS3 being finicky. I may try using TSMuxer to make it into another Blu-Ray, perhaps that will work.
