Ooh, I like the music a lot! And I like that we don't see anything of Leia after she jumps off of the speeder bike.

Thanks! Rogue did the music, he worked really hard on that. There's little cuts all over the place, hopefully they're fairly seamless. If you compare that to the original, there's quite a few differences.

That was great.

I love that you cut the meet between Leia and Wicket, but do we still see the approach of someone with a spear? It seems like it should have happened before cutting back to Han.

I think it's a valuable bit for building suspense about the unseen Ewoks. Without that hint, they simply come out at the trap which can't be as effective imho. The trap means more if we think "uh-oh, they already got Leia".

I know I read that you were going to keep that bit, didn't I? With the right suspenseful musical sting, wouldn't it work?

I hate complaining about anything on this awesome edit.

That was a nice little clip. The new music seemed really seamless. Even if it did have prequel music, I didn't notice. I honestly havent seen a prequel in some time, so if it did have trade federation music in it, it didn't really stand out to me.

Yeah, I honestly don't even know exactly what tracks he used. Our conversations are usually "I don't know if it's possible, but can you do this?" and he says "Of course" and then 10 minutes later he sends it to me.

Amazing clip. I feel that chase like it's the first time.

I know I asked up-thread, but I'm going to risk hassling you about this-- are you going to use the beat of the unseen ewok with a spear walking up on the unconscious Leia? I have long thought of it as crucial and I was thrilled to see it in your edit proposal.

With it, we worry for Leia, we wonder what dangerous thing is out there, and we know where that trap is coming from that Han finds-- more dramatic tension.

Did you try it?

May I suggest that little bit of Wicket approaching Leia with the spear go between Luke powering off the light saber and Han waiting for Luke and Leia?

Without the rest of the scene, the bit is so short. It might be more of a coda to the chase sequence transitioning to the "where is Leia" sequence than something to cut to after Luke and Han are worried.

Geez all i can do with my phone is talk to people, I gotta upgrade!

edit: I've alsways liked the speederbike sequence in the original movie and all this time i never realised there was no music playing!

At the beginning of the chase I was waiting for Luke to say "Get along side that one" Leia now seems to look at Luke when he gets on the other bike and look back at the dead scout as if to say "What the???" which got a laugh from me) its a nice touch. Ive never looked at the whole scene too indepth so that was what i noticed most. Adding music was a nice touch but just a little overused i thought - it might be more dramatic to have the music stop when leia falls off and a bit more tense - instead of a short change and then back to similar music.

You can never go home again, but i guess you can shop there.

Yeah they originally had quite a lot of dialogue at the beginning of the scene, but I like the idea of them working together organically, like cool badass force siblings should. I'm glad that got a little laugh, it gets me too. I see what you mean with the music, but I'm really a fan of how it plays currently.

I got the new crawl, it's exactly what i want it to be, but it's a bit logner than the usual crawl. It kind of has to be, I have to set up a bit more than the original version does. To make it fit I had to speed it up a little, but not so much that it becomes difficult to read. I tried to have it fit the music as best as I could, it just doesn't fit exactly like the original crawls. Again, if you're a serious purist this might upset you, but this edit isn't for serious purists anyway.

Here's the crawl text:

After learning the terrible truth of his father's fate, Luke Skywalker has returned to Dagobah to complete his Jedi training with Master Yoda, knowing he must again face Darth Vader.

Meanwhile, Lando Calrissian has successfully infiltrated the court of the vile gangster JABBA THE HUTT. Princess Leia has received a message from Lando that Chewbacca has been discovered and captured. Growing impatient for Luke to return and fearing that Lando will soon be captured as well, the Princess develops her own rescue plan.

Little do they know, the GALACTIC EMPIRE is constructing a new DEATH STAR in secret. When completed, this ultimate weapon will spell certain doom for the small band of rebels struggling to restore freedom to the galaxy...

Awesome crawl.

A simple paring down suggestion: eliminate "terrible" in paragraph 1; "successfully" in paragraph 2; and "and fearing that Lando will soon be captured as well," from paragraph 2.

Everything else is pure gold.

I think this is the purists edit-- for anyone who thinks the first two movies represent the real Star Wars. Anyway, that's how I'm a purist.

I don't think there is much difference. It doesn't really merit another re-do if L8wtr is busy... I think you can just keep it the other way.

yeah, I'm feeling that way too. Thanks for the feedback guys!

Today I did some of my abandoned concepts special feature, which is fun. I'm basically talking about things I did tests for but ended up not using.

Commentary is nearly done. DVD Menu's are finished. Color correction is finished. Jabba's subtitles are finished. All the sound editing is done.

Basically, what's left is to finish my bonus features, finish the end credits, and plug in Bobgarcia74's shots.

One quick suggestion, if you do decide to re-do the crawl:

Jedi is the only one of the six films to end its crawl with three dots instead of four. I don't know if this has been changed to four in your current crawl, but if you do end up re-doing it I think it'd be nice to make it four dots to keep the saga consistent.

If not, it's not a big deal. Jedi has had three dots for almost 30 years, and no one's complained about it.
